A Lair For Liars

For years, yes…years, Republicans have been accusing President Biden of being corrupt. Goons like James Comer, Jim Gym Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Matt Gaetz have NOT been implying it, they’ve been saying it out loud. In the real world, that could get you sued for defamation but in politics, you use it for fundraisers and bullshit impeachments.

Alexander Smirnov was an FBI informant who told the bureau that he had evidence of Joe and Hunter taking bribes. During the 2020 presidential campaign, Smirnov sent his FBI handlers a series of messages, including texts full of typos and misspellings, claiming he had information that would put then-candidate Biden in prison. After Republicans won the House in 2022 and heard of this bullshit claim, they were off and running.

James Comer,  the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, threatened to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt if he did not disclose the details. After Wray complied, Senator Charles Grassley released a copy of an FBI record that included the false allegations.

Now, Smirnov has been indicted for lying to the FBI. It was all bullshit motivated by jealousy, politics, and finances. Smirnov, or Smirvy as his friends call him (I just made that up but maybe it’s true…if he has friends), told the FBI that Joe and Hunter asked for $5 million bribes from Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company where Hunter was on the board. Smirvy told the FBI that the bribes were to protect the company from Ukraine’s top prosecutor, who was actually corrupt and never did attempt to investigate Burisma. When Republicans tell you that Joe Biden demanded the prosecutor to be fired because he was investigating Burisma, they’re lying.

Republicans have built their entire case to impeach President Biden on these lies. They have nothing now. It’s like with Hunter’s laptop. They howl and scream about it without EVER providing any evidence of a crime from it. They scream at the top of their lungs about it for so long that people overlook the fact that they haven’t seen anything from it.

And by the way, if suppressing news about Hunter Biden owning a laptop was election interference, then so was Donald Trump paying off porn stars with hush money. The difference is there’s nothing on the laptop and Donald Trump did shag porn stars.

The “Biden Crime Family” narrative is false. It’s a lie. It’s bullshit. And the people spreading it don’t have ethics. It’s purely political to howl without evidence about the president being corrupt when you’re either looking the other way or outright defending Jared Kushner getting $2 billion from the Saudis, or Donald Trump doing business with Saudis today, or his violations of the Emoluments Clause, or other acts he committed to enrich himself with the presidency (sic). Even his stupid shoe scam is a violation of the Emoluments Clause as it’s a for-profit venture, not a campaign endeavor. Remember, Jimmy Carter sold his peanut farm to serve as president.

And Republicans can’t scream that the prosecutor charging Smirnov is biased and protecting the Bidens, because the charge is from the Special Counsel who’s already brought charges against Hunter for his gun purchase and late tax payments.

Comer blamed the FBI for telling him the source was “credible,” but the FBI never actually believed the source, Smirnov, because all of his claims were quickly debunked. This is the point where Republicans should stop their impeachment initiative and apologize to President Biden and his son. But seeing that they impeached a cabinet member last week without any evidence of a crime, I doubt they do that.

Skeevies used Smirvy for their lies. Alexander Smirnov is no less credible than the goons who used him, goons like Chuck Grassley, James Comer, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Jim Gym Jordan, Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Trump cult.

Abbe Lowell, Hunter’s attorney, said, “For months, we have warned that Republicans have built their conspiracies about Hunter and his family on lies told by people with political agendas, not facts. We were right, and the air is out of their balloon.”

There was never any air in that balloon. It was a balloon of bullshit. A bullshit balloon, if you will.
