Don’t Say Three-Way

Moms for Liberty is a hate group. It disguises itself as a grassroots parental rights organization, but it’s a hate group that’s closely aligned with the Republican Party.

The hate club began in Florida in 2021 as a response to mask and vaccine mandates in schools but soon branched out to campaign against school curricula that mentioned race, ethnicity, and anything that mentioned rights for LGBTQ people. The group opposes Critical Race Theory and played a part in helping Ron DeSantis, who the group has called the “parents’ governor,” push his “Don’t Say Gay” law. The group engages in book bans.

The group claims it’s non-partisan but all three founding members, Tina Descovich, Tiffany Justice, and Bridget Ziegler are all registered Republicans. Bridget, who has since resigned but is still a member of a school board, is married to the chairman of the Florida Republican Party. It’s really hard to convince people you’re non-partisan when you’re partisan. Bridget also sends her children to private schools while sitting on a board for public schools.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, described Moms for Liberty as a “far-right organization that engages in anti-student inclusion activities and self-identifies as part of the modern parental rights movement. The group has associated with the white nationalist terrorist group The Proud Boys and the far-right hate club Gays Against Groomers.

Speaking at the group’s annual conference last June were Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis.

Also last June, one of its chapters published a newsletter with a quote from Adolph Hitler on the front page. At the annual conference, Tiffany said, “One of our Moms in a newsletter quotes Hitler. I stand with that Mom.” This remark received a standing ovation. It sounds like Hitler-quoting Trump spoke to a like-minded group.

Moms for Liberty has a track record of its members harassing, threatening, and intimidating educators they disagree with. A recording surfaced of one of the group’s leaders fantasizing about shooting school librarians, saying “They would all be plowed down with a freaking gun.”

After New Hampshire passed a law restricting discussions of race in the classroom (seriously), that state’s chapter of Moms for Liberty offered $500 bounties to anyone who “caught” a teacher breaking the law.

A Florida “Mom” advocated for putting LGBTQ students into “specialized” classes with students who have autism and Down Syndrome.

There is good news. Moms for Liberty’s influence is waning. Ballotpedia reported that nearly 60 percent of the 198 school board candidates endorsed by Moms for Liberty in contested races across 10 states were defeated in 2023.

Maybe that’s because people are starting to see what they truly are. They’re a hate group. They’re not about education, health safety, or for the children. They’re a bunch of Hitler-quoting hateful bigoted hypocrites who advocated against saying the word “gay” in schools while having threesomes. Wait, what?

Bridget and her husband, the chairman of the state GOP, had a threesome sexual relationship with another woman. So don’t say gay but maybe it’s not gay if your lesbian tryst involves your husband…who was later accused of rape by the third member of the threesome.

Recently, at a Sarasota town meeting, where Bridget is on the school board, she was confronted by a former student of that school system. Zander Moricz, who is gay, said Bridget had once retweeted a hate article about him while he was in high school.

Moricz said to Ziegler, “You are a reminder that some people view politics as a service to others while some view it as an opportunity for themselves. On this board, you have spent public funds that could have been used to increase teacher pay to change our district lines for political gain, remove books from schools, target trans and queer children, erase Black history, and elevate your political career all while sending your children to private schools because you do not believe in the public school system that you’ve been leading.”

“My question is, why doesn’t an elected official using our money to harm our students and our teachers for her gain, seem to matter as much to us as her having a threesome? Bridget Ziegler, you do not deserve to be on the Sarasota County School Board, but you do not deserve to be removed from it for having a threesome. That defeats the lesson we’ve been trying to teach you, which is that a politician’s job is to serve their community, not to police personal lives. So to be extra clear, Bridget, you deserve to be fired from your job because you are terrible at your job, not because you had sex with a woman.”

Moms for Liberty needs to go into the ashbin of history…with Hitler.
