Taylor Penalty

This was drawn for the year-end edition of the newsletter which I don’t always draw for, but this year I got the privilege. I drew the rough for this cartoon over two weeks ago and submitted it to CNN when an editor I only work with a few times a year was putting that newsletter together. She’s great. But she told me to hang onto it for two weeks, because we were taking Christmas week off, and show it to the editor the week after for the year-end edition.

I sent five other ideas to this week’s editor but she chose this one. Taylor Swift was one of the topics thrown at me.

I got the idea for this one a few weeks ago when Kansas City Chief tight end Travis Kelce, Taylor’s boyfriend, committed a penalty that cost the Chiefs the game. A lot of KC fans, and even quarterback Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid blamed the officials even though Kelce was in the neutral zone. A bunch of other fans blamed Taylor Swift. And when the Chiefs lost another game, they blamed Taylor Swift again. Maybe she should write a song about Kansas City Chief fans.

She’s lucky she’s not dating a Cowboy.
