A Place For Fascists

It’s not just U.S. voters who have short memories as we see polls showing Donald Trump, the worst president in U.S. history, is leading President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential race. Voters today have forgotten that Trump tanked the great economy he inherited from President Obama, ignored Covid while tens of thousands of his constituents died, and left office with the worst employment rate of any modern president. Voters are also forgetting his hatred, stupidity, narcissism, racism, and the fact the only legislative accomplishment during his administration was giving himself a huge tax cut. Historians have been friendly to Trump, making him only the fourth-worst president in U.S. history instead of first of the worst, which is where he belongs. Say what you will about Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, and Andrew Johnson, but none of them ever led an insurrection against their own country to stay in power. Apparently, 44 percent of voters are saying, “Let’s do that stupid ass shit again.”

Donald Trump had zero experience for the presidency and exhibited nothing but ignorance about how government, or anything else, functions (he thinks people need an ID to purchase cereal which is probably something he got from Trix commercials), so unsurprisingly, he turned out to be a horrible god-awful rancid terrifying president. You would think Argentina would learn from our huge mistake of placing an ignorant wannabe dictator in office, or maybe at least learn it from their neighbors in Brazil, who followed us in doing the same stupid thing.

I predict Argentina will remove the fascist they installed in their next election, realizing as we and Brazil both did, that one term was one too many.

Or if Argentina can’t learn from us or their neighbor, maybe they can learn from themselves. Do they not remember their last dictatorship, or the one before that…or the one before that…or the one before that? Voters in Argentina have got to have short memories, or none at all, to elect fascist Javier Milei, who like Trump and Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro (who’ve both congratulated and praised Milei), has no experience for the job, and has not presented any actual strategy of how he’s going to repair his nation’s economy, which is currently suffering an inflation rate of 143 percent.

Milei is a described Libertarian which means he wants his nation to have all the government of Somalia.

Milei went into the election claiming it was going to be rigged but after winning by 11 points, declared that it was in fact, not rigged. Now, the leather jacket-wearing candidate with crazy hair who swung a chainsaw around at his rallies plans to replace the peso with the U.S. dollar, get rid of the central bank, cut 15 percent from the nation’s budget, private all of the nation’s public companies, replace public education with a voucher system, defund universities, ban abortions and gay marriage, and end free healthcare. Milei is planning on destroying his nation. Milei doesn’t understand economics or how any of this works, similar to how Trump never understood, and still doesn’t, that U.S. consumers pay for the tariffs he enacted on other nations. Milei has plans, no actual strategy on how to implement any of them, but at least they’re plans…horrible and terrifying, but plans.

Milei has also expressed willingness to use the police and military to put down social conflict, which means we’re going to see a lot of heads being cracked during the first protests of his policies. He has been an apologist and denialist of Argentina’s previous dictatorships. Denying that around 30,000 people just went missing is akin to being a Holocaust denialist.

Argentina wasn’t always like this. At the start of the 20th century, it was the seventh wealthiest nation in the world. Its GDP (gross domestic product) by capita surpassed that of the United States. But the nation never recovered from the Great Depression and spent decades in political instability with stupid decisions like starting a war with the United Kingdom in the early 80s. There was also the Dirty War in the 70s and 80s where tens of thousands of political dissidents disappeared. Today, the nation’s GDP is 66 in the world with over 40 percent of the population living in poverty. That’s bad. I don’t believe you fix this by placing an ignorant goosestepping dog-cloning dictator wannabe with a bad haircut in office who’s promising things he can’t deliver unless he destroys the nation’s constitution. Unfortunately for us, our constitution doesn’t prevent a prison inmate from being president.

But even this lunatic in Argentina has stated more economic policy proposals than Trump has unless you consider building concentration camps an economic boost. But perhaps Trump will flee the nation if he senses his presidential campaign won’t save him from prison.

After World War II, over 10,000 Nazis fled to South America. Argentina actually encouraged Nazis and war criminals to come and President/dictator Juan Perón ordered the creation of a “ratline” for Nazis, and other fascists from Europe. When Israel’s Mossad captured Nazi and Holocaust champion Adolph Eichmann in 1960, they had to sneak him out of the nation because they knew Argentina wouldn’t allow them to simply walk him out. While Nazis also fled to Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, and other nations on the continent, Argentina was the biggest and most inviting destination for fleeing Nazis. Today, even Brazil doesn’t want George Santos to come back.

Will fascist Javier Milei create a welcoming destination for Trump and other MAGA criminals (those who don’t flip on him)? Donald Trump is already emulating Nazis so maybe he’ll goosestep his way to Argentina.
