Republican-On-Republican

I’m going to be honest with you. I have zero sadness over House Republicans fighting with each other. I have no empathy for Kevin McCarthy in this situation. If McCarthy didn’t want to be in this shitstorm with goons then he shouldn’t have made deals with goons. Kevin McCarthy made deals with the Freedom Caucus to become Speaker, assuring he would be the worst speaker in the history of the House. Now, who was that who predicted there would be a challenge to his speakership? Oh, yeah. It was me.

McCarthy wanted to be Speaker and was willing to do it no matter the cost. This is the cost. The bill has arrived.

Matt Gaetz and other Republicans, about 11 of them, are upset because McCarthy made deals with Democrats not to blow up the government and force government workers and military families to starve. The Goons only want legislation that can pass solely on Republican votes. They want a one-party system. Seriously. This is not my opinion. They want a fascist state. This is just one reason why they love Putin so much. What hypocritical is that to destroy McCarthy’s speakership, they will need votes from…wait for it…Democrats.

So if you’re like me, you may be asking yourself, what do I do in this situation? Do I root for Matt Gaetz? Do I root for Kevin McCarthy? Or do I tackle a much more difficult decision? Do I choose movie theater popcorn or kettle?

I wish voters would remember this come election time. Republicans can’t legislate.

  1. ” what do I do in this situation?”

Were it not for the terrible waste of legislator’s time, contempt for the legislative branch of our government, and dereliction of duty required, I would root for just enough Dems to vote for McCarthy so that he wins by 1/2 vote… just to piss off Gaetz, at which point Gaetz would ‘rinse and repeat’ the next day, (same thing from the Dems,) and the next, and the next, etc.

I wonder how many rounds of voting it will take for the next GOP speaker (squeaker?) to win.

  2. Clay, Mr. McCarthy earned his untrusty worthy status. He did finally do the right thing to work with the Dems to avoid the shutdown, but that is a rare occurrence. As for Mr. Gaetz, he and the Freedom Caucus are actually more untrustworthy than Mr. McCarthy, very much earning that reputation with his (and their) grandstanding, untruthfulness and mean-spiritedness. Gaetz, Taylor Greene, Jordan, Gosar et al are borne out of the severe gerrymandering that occurred following the 2010 midterms which coincided with a census year. Gosar gets 98% of the vote in his district, but what is interesting is 2% write in another name as he is not none for rational governance. Keith

    1. You are spot on Keith. The Freedom Caucus is like having a bunch of bullies for kids and they like causing mayhem better than working with anyone to make things better. They would gladly shut down the government rather than work with the other side to make things better. It’s their way or no way. We need as few of them in the congress as possible so work can get done.

  3. Once you get that, first taste of power, of having control over the, government’s, functioning, you get addicted, and, you will, keep on, craving power, and, eventually, abuse the people who put you, into, office, and, you’d, forgotten, the promises of, serving those who, voted you, into, that, position of power. Absolute power corrupts, ABSOLUTELY. And, that is, what happens, in the, House right now.
