Sometimes it’s hard to satirize reality, so I give up and just draw reality. The only thing satirical about this cartoon is that it’s saying the quiet part out loud, but it’s the part that is the intention of Donald Trump’s legal team.
Trump’s legal team has asked the judge presiding over the stolen classified documents case to delay the trial. In a filing Monday, they cited the “sheer volume” of documents they must go over to prepare to defend Trump. These are the documents he stored in his ballrooms, bathroom, shower, bedroom, storage facilities, etc. These are the documents he took from one of his shitty golf clubs in Florida to his shitty golf club in New Jersey. These are the documents he showed off to impress people without classified clearance, probably in an attempt to shag women. These documents included secrets about defense and weapons capabilities of the U.S. government and its allies.
If there are too many documents for Trump’s legal team to go over before December, when Special Counsel Jack Smith would like a trial to begin, maybe ask your client not to steal so many next time.
Trump’s lawyers, Christopher Kise and Todd Blanche wrote that Trump is the first former U.S. president (sic) to face federal charges from a government he once led, as though that’s not Trump’s fault. They said it would be a challenge to select a jury while Trump is a presidential candidate in the 2024 election. This is an attempt to use his candidacy to escape justice.
Donald Trump is not obligated to run for president. In fact, he began his official campaign after the investigations, the one in Miami, the one in Washington, the one in Manhattan, and the one in Atlanta, began. If Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, agrees with Trump’s lawyers, that will be a precedent for future defendants to start political campaigns to avoid trials.
The lawyers argued, “There is simply no question any trial of this action during the pendency of a Presidential election will impact both the outcome of that election and, importantly, the ability of the Defendants to obtain a fair trial.”
But I thought being indicted only improved Trump’s poll numbers? And the fact that Donald Trump is a criminal should impact the election.
Further bullshit the defense team added was, “In general, the Defendants believe there should simply be no ‘secret’ evidence, nor any facts concealed from public view relative to the prosecution of a leading Presidential candidate by his political opponent. Our democracy demands no less than full transparency.”
Basically, they want all the classified information declassified in full transparency for the candidate that concealed his taxes throughout his presidency (sic). They’re also using the lie that Trump is being prosecuted by his political opponent.
There is no evidence that Donald Trump is being prosecuted by Joe Biden. These lawyers and Republicans want us to believe that stealing and showing off classified information is a normal thing.
But they forget that Donald Trump is the one who tried to use the government to shut down his political opponent. The irony is rich here. Donald Trump extorted a foreign president and withheld U.S. military aid for dirt on Joe Biden and his son.
As for politicizing the Justice Department, that’s an area where Trump is guilty too. Donald Trump didn’t fire anyone from the Justice Department or FBI to improve those agencies or their service to the nation. No, he only fired them to save his own ass or out of petty vindictiveness.
He fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates because she refused to enforce his first racist immigration order, but also because she was investigating National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. He fired James Comey because he was investigating Flynn and his connections to Russia. Trump fired U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara for investigating corruption in New York City that connected to Trump. Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions for appointing a special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, a day before his retirement, for opening two investigations into Trump. He fired Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI’s counterintelligence division Peter Strzok who was investigating Russian collusion.
Additionally, Donald Trump pressured the Justice Department to begin investigations into Hunter Biden and to appoint a special counsel, John Durham, to investigate the Russia investigations.
If Trump regains the White House (sic), he will again politicize the Department of Justice by appointing a bigger stooge than William Barr ever was and fire the prosecutors in the classified documents case and the January 6 case.
I guess fascism is one way to beat a criminal case against you.

Yep drawing reality is what a great editorial toonist does. Thanks.

Reality in itself, can sometimes be, too, satirical…

Reality works well here. But I disagree with one thing: “probably in an attempt to shag women” — I think he’s past it.

I always enjoy your little touches. Like the burger next to Dumph. Of course Pizza Rat often makes his contribution. Wasn’t the Judge one of the unqualified judges that Dumph appointed? If there is any way she can delay the trial I bet she will unless it will cost her her cushy job.
