SCOTUS Red Tie Brigade

Republicans don’t trust our legal system.

Several high-profile Republicans attended portions of the New York Trump trial to show their support to who House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the Insurrectionist-in-Chief. Jeffries also gave the group of MAGAts the name, Red Tie Brigade.

There was something weird about the group’s show of support for Trump, other than Republicans abandoning law and order and turning their party into a cult. The group, which included House Majority Leader Mike Johnson, all wore blue suits and red ties, like Trump. I’m shocked they all didn’t bleach their hair blond, comb it over, and paint their faces hideously orange.

These goons, most of them elected, don’t have faith in our legal system. They don’t trust a jury. Our legal system argues that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but the Red Tie Brigade doesn’t want a fair trial to determine if Trump is innocent or guilty…and neither does the Supreme Court.

SCOTUS shouldn’t even be hearing the case about Trump having immunity. A lower court already answered the question and they said he doesn’t have it. Not only shouldn’t the court be hearing it, but the justice whose wife helped Trump try to steal an election and the justice who flies insurrectionist flags outside his homes should have already recused themselves.

The right-wing majority on the court is doing the bidding of Donald Trump. Even if they don’t grant him full immunity from staging a white nationalist insurrection, they have succeeded in delaying the trial over his trying to steal the 2020 election. Voters will go to the polls in November not knowing if Trump is guilty of staging a coup and trying to steal the election.

And now I don’t trust our legal system.

  1. Why do knee-jerk Republicans have such a huge influence on American society? Not only are MAGAts afraid of Trump, but Democrsts seem to be scared to upset the GOP! When are they going to grow some balls and govern the way they were elected to do.
Just sayin’, but when the Repukes are in power they don’t make concessions to what Democrsts care about so why are the Dems so leery of upsetting the Repukes?
Biden is doing a good job holding back the tides of conservatism, but he is doing little to make inroads towards changing the hearts and minds of Americans, nor does he make other nations regain any respect for America! Trump shattered the role the USA had as leader of the Free World. Trump was a bully in a China shop (pun intended). The Dems need to repair the damage, but they are not doing that.
If they won’t, who will? There is a vacuum being created at the top of the heap. Are we going to let it be filled by Putin, Xi, and people like Kim, which is what Trump thinks he wants but cannot see the future results of his actions and desires?
It is time for someone to stand up and lead. I doubt it will be America who does this! Not the way things are going rignt now!

    1. As a Democrat, I’m torn by this, wondering why my representative in the Congress and Senate don’t get tougher. Are they just too nice and thinking (like my mom always said) ‘you catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar’, or do they just not have any balls? Or do they know things I don’t know that are holding them back from being more aggressive in fighting harder. It’s very frustrating!

      1. I can only imagine. The problem, ss I see it, is haveing to vote for the best between 2 bad options, knowing neither one is probably any good. This is one result of a two-party system — if the voters still vote for a lacklustre someone, why bother working to be the best possible candidate.
Just one of the problems of modern democracy — taken of late to the extreme.

      2. I do like Biden and have confidence in him, despite his age. I just hope he can win again. I’m worried about all the other asshats out there….

      3. Biden is acceptable, so please don’t take this wrong. He does s good job — but he is not dynamic. He does not inspire others to greatness. And that is what America — and the world — need right now.

      4. I know he’s not perfect. But in general I like him. He’s got a good heart, he cares about what happens to people, cares about the country, etc. He doesn’t always do what I’d like him to or as forcefully as I’d like (this whole Israel/Gaza thing is one example!) but he’s done a lot of good and I’m happy with him in general. We need some younger people to step up and start proving their chops so that we have more choices in the future.

    2. I don’t think it’s a matter of Democrats being scared of upsetting the GOP, but rather of trying to hold the upper road, not to lower themselves to the level of the GOP. And it’s hard to start repairing the damage while the bull is still in the china shop … best to get rid of the bull first.

      1. THAT should have been done Jan.7, 2021. And the fact that this did not happen tells me the Dems “are” scared of Trump.
There is sticking to the upper road, and then there is pussyfooting around and accomplishing little. You know what I think on that one. The result was the loss of Roe.

      2. I still don’t think ‘scared’ is the right word. The Democrats play by the rules and do so with a bit of dignity which they feel they owe to the people of the nation. The rules wouldn’t have let them arrest Trump or assassinate him. There is a process, under the law, and the Democrats still believe in the process, the law, the Constitution. The Republicans don’t.

  2. Despite constitutional guarantees of the right to a fair and speedy trial, not just for the defendant, but for the people harmed by the defendant’s acts, there is no equality of representation. The poor receive poor defenses, while the rich can dither over over procedural issues until the plaintiff or the State give up. Is this by design or is there something else going on? In the present situation, it’s more the latter, since The Mango Moron often does not pay his bevy of attorneys. The Federalist Society has scuttled the legal system, which on paper is the U.S.’ crowning glory. That and the peaceful transfer of power.
