Montgomery Brawl

The Harriett II is a riverboat that cruises the Alabama River and docks in Montgomery. When the Harriett II tried to dock in its place on the Montgomery riverfront Saturday night, a pontoon boat was in its place. The co-captain, Damien Pickett, had either asked the owners of the pontoon boat to move it, or he had moved it himself by a few feet. From there, a brawl ensued.

Several white people jumped and attacked Pickett, who is black. From there, a battle ensued that was mostly along racial lines. Someone got punched and fell into the river. Someone jumped off the Harriett II and swam to help Pickett. A white lady got hit in the head with a folding chair like it was Friday Night Smackdown. There have been three arrests and folding chair memes are sweeping the nation faster than you can hit a white lady in the head with a folding chair.

Alabama has been on a roll lately over racism. The state that told Rosa Parks to sit in the back of the bus and hosted the Selma race riots is showing it hasn’t progressed much.

A town in Alabama won’t let a black man assume the mayorship he won. The state legislature is ignoring an order from the Supreme Court and is refusing to create a second congressional district with a black majority.

A lot of white people in Alabama don’t want to give black people equal voting rights, allow a black man to become mayor after he wins an election, or give up a docking spot to the black person it belongs to.

Be careful, Alabama, because the next time you tell someone to take a back seat, they might hit you with it.

Creative note: I wrote this idea last night and then this morning, I worked on two others until I finally came back to the first one. It was like I had to try with the other two before I could convince myself this was the idea to go with. You’ll see them in the next batch of roughs.

  1. The white people of the town are afraid a black mayor will actually do something good for the town, because he is not concerned with keeping the black people in stocks and chains. They just might be amazed by what a lack mayor will do for them –but they won’t even give him a chance. They are proving they are nothing but dildoes!

    1. I think that “Spider-Man” is actually a Red Fire Hydrant, but you were kinda close, because Batman is on the roof. 😉

Also, Kilroy is peeking out of the window, and Pennywise is in the storm drain. 😉
