Labour Labor

Yesterday, a Biden supporter posted on social media that I should stop criticizing President Joe Biden and campaign for him with energy. I replied, “Why should I if he won’t or can’t campaign with energy?” A Trump supporter commented on TikTok that he was confused I could criticize Biden when I defended him in the past. We’ve become such a partisan nation and so toxic that we’ve forgotten what nonpartisan is. This guy was trying to find hypocrisy in my work.

Several people are confused about supporting the idea of replacing Biden when he’s been such a successful president. But they don’t understand that none of that is going to win the election for Biden. I’m sorry, but it’s not. During Biden’s interview with George Stephanopoulos, he couldn’t remember if he watched the debate.

I don’t carry water for any politician. I’m a liberal, not a Democrat. I think defeating Donald Trump and preventing him from destroying our nation is more important than being stubbornly attached to any one candidate. I don’t care which Democrat is in the White House just as long as Trump isn’t in it. I don’t even want Trump’s portrait in the White House unless it depicts him in an orange jumpsuit. I’d hang that in my house.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, The Labour Party just won a huge landslide, tossing out the Conservative Party, the Tories. This is refreshing when the Far Right is on the rise across Europe and the United States. But, the Labour Party’s win isn’t as big as it seems.

Labour’s win was more of a rejection of the Conservatives than it was an embrace of liberalism. Remember Prime Minister Liz Truss whose tenure at 10 Downing Street had a lifespan shorter than a head of cabbage? She lost her seat in Parliament in this election. Despite the huge landslide, Labour only got a third of the vote and less than the number of votes they received in 2017…when they lost.

With the Labour victory, they got to choose the Prime Minister (of course), and that person is Keir Starmer who is more of a moderate liberal than a far-left kind of person. I had a short conversation with Matt Davies about this to pick his brain on it (since he is from the UK), and one of his first observations is that Starmer is boring. Maybe that’s what they need. Maybe that’s what we need in the USA.

While the Conservatives took a blood bath in the election, Reform U.K., a rising anti-immigrant and insurgent party grew and took over four million votes. Reform won 14.3 percent of the vote, compared to 23.7 percent for the Conservatives and 33.8 percent for Labour. Labour now has 412 seats to the Conservatives 121.

The Liberal Democrats won 12 percent of the vote and increased their numbers in Parliament from eight to 71. Reform only has five. Maybe there should be a Cabbage Party.

Anand Menon, a professor of European politics at King’s College London, said, “We wanted change, but we aren’t inspired by Labour.”

Similarly, nobody in our nation is inspired by Joe Biden while Donald Trump gives huge inspiration to fucknut white nationalist mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging troglodytes who are all equipped with a fourth-grade reading level. And like the vote for Labour in the UK, we don’t have to be inspired by Biden to vote for him or whoever’s on the ballot for Democrats in November. We just have to be inspired by the desire to save our nation from Trump and MAGAts. I know I am.

I will vote for President Biden if he’s on the ballot. I will vote for anyone on the ballot over Trump. And I don’t care how wilted that head of cabbage is that outlasted Liz Truss, I would vote for it over Donald Trump.

  1. If America doesn’t reject the Republicans like Britain rejected the Tories, there will be hell to psy. And it won’t be just Americans paying, every creature on Earth will be paying with their lives!

  2. Boy, they sure gave that clip plenty of airtime, before and after the interview, despite promising, they weren’t going to do that, and told you how to interpret it didn’t they??

Stephanopoulos hit the “everybody is concerned” hard. WELL YEAH he and every other major outlet has been TELLING THEM FOR a week TO BE CONCERNED.

This the same type of “reporting ” that lead to PEOPLE believing the 2020 election was stole

The media’s story is the more NORMAL candidate should drop out.

    Ask yourself why?

For me, the most important part of that interview came at the end when Stephanopoulos announced Trump had been given the same chance to have a one on one interview and declined.

  3. Dang, @clayjones! Nice writing. My wish is that someone with the guts will stand up and say “this should be our candidate”. All I hear is that it should not be Biden. I hear lots of democrats running screaming around in circles and for hills with their hair on fire, wriging their hands and doing other stupid nonsensical actions with no solid action or outcome. Well pony up hair-on-fire-decomcrats and make a suggestion and decision of who the alternative should be. And no, don’t say “it can’t be CamilHair because…..(insert stupid reason here). MAKE a decision and go full force with it because this inaction is helping the convicted felon “win” . And, if only 60% of the US voting population turns out to vote and they consist mostly of the “… fucknut white nationalist mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging troglodytes who are all equipped with a fourth-grade reading level.” to use @clayjones very apt description, we will be in a world of hurt no one will ever recover from. Please democrats – ANYONE but Trump. And do it NOW! (Sorry for the shouting but I’m very worried/concerned/distressed).

  4. Wether this coming election or another in the future we do not stand a chance unless major reform comes to our country Y’s structure. Get rid of the Senate or also base it on population. Dump the electoral college as it represents everything backwards thinking about democracy. Remove the 3/5 of a person language from the Constitution entirely. You know it is still there. And a bunch of other things. If we don’t we will be screwed.

  5. Sorry, Joe Biden has more energy than Drumpf.  And actually if you asked any 70 yr old they would say the same.   I am 77 and am tired all the time, when I was 30+ (military family) and flying to Europe I was exhausted at the end of the flight, not to mention Jet lag. To be able to do what he did and then come home with a cold, (which sometimes hangs on for weeks), dang I would be in bed for a week.  But he was out doing his job running the country. Drumpf played more golf, watched more TV and snorted whatever, and went to the office 3 hours a day for 4 days, got to take off Fri to cheat at golf. I enjoy your cartoons, they always have a message, but Biden is the last hope for the US this time around and folks know it. Shar
