Boo-Hoo Bannon

A lot of MAGAts are melting down over Steve Bannon being ordered to go to prison.

Matt Gaetz, who’s an actual member of Congress, posted on Twitter/X, “They’re sending him to prison, not just to torture him, but to torture us.” Matt, they don’t torture people in prison. It’s not Guantanamo or one of your date nights with a minor.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who incredibly is also an elected member of Congress, cried that the “DOJ is corrupt.” Wait…wasn’t she howling last week that Dr. Anthony Fauci should be sent to prison based on her conspiracy theories? Now that would be a fucked up justice system.

Former Deputy Assistant to Trump, creeper Sebastian Gorka, said, “The deep state is not the deep state anymore. It’s the in-your-face, we don’t care, we run America, and who you choose for president is utterly irrelevant.” Hey, wasn’t Sebastian Gorka a fugitive from Hungary the entire time he worked in the Trump White House (sic)?

Bannon was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress in 2022 but sentencing was delayed by him appealing the decision. That appeal was rejected, and he was sentenced Thursday to report to prison on July 1. Bannon can still appeal the ruling to report to prison.

Per the penal code, penalties for contempt of Congress include a jail term of a minimum of one month and a maximum of 12 months per violation.

Bannon does plan to appeal the stay and said, “I’ve got great lawyers, and we’re going to go all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to. There’s not a prison built or jail built that will ever shut me up.” It’ll probably shut him up for at least four months, which is what he’s been sentenced to serve.

Mike Lee, who’s an actual member of the United States Senate which means he should understand how this shit works, cried as well. He posted that Steve Bannon “doesn’t belong in prison,” and shared a meme using the false equivalence that Hunter Biden isn’t in prison despite defying a congressional subpoena.

Pay attention, especially if you’re a Republican who holds public office. Steve Bannon ignored a congressional subpoena. It was from the committee investigating the white nationalist attack on Congress on January 6, 2021. Republicans are howling about this because they feel their white nationalist terrorists are hostages and political prisoners.

Congress sent a referral to DOJ to charge Bannon for contempt. Bannon was found guilty of contempt in 2022. The reason Hunter Biden isn’t in prison for contempt of Congress (are we still paying attention?) is because his “offense” was pretty recent and, this is important, the GOP-led House has NOT sent a referral to the DOJ. If Mike Lee and other Republicans want to cry that it’s unfair Bannon is going to prison (maybe) but Hunter’s not, then blame…wait for it…REPUBLICANS!

Donald Trump posted on Shit Social, his own social media site, that prosecutors are “desperate” to jail Bannon. He also whined again that Republicans are being persecuted by a politically motivated justice system.

The goons are constantly complaining about how the justice system is being politicized against them yet Trump is not in jail. He has been convicted on 34 counts and he’s still NOT IN JAIL. His trial in Florida for stealing classified documents has been delayed indefinitely by a Trump-friendly judge overseeing the case. His trial in Washington for the insurrection and trying to steal the election has been indefinitely delayed by the Trump-friendly Supreme Court. His trial in Atlanta for trying to steal the state’s electoral votes and election meddling has been indefinitely delayed by more Trump-Friendly judges.

And the judge over the hush money trial, the one all the MAGAts are claiming is corrupt, may not even send Trump to jail. He may let Trump remain free during the appeal process. If Trump ever does go to jail in the one case that’s found him guilty (34 times), it may not be until long after the 2024 election. Judge Juan Merchan has bent over backward to be fair to Trump, even as Trump makes wild false statements that endanger the lives of members of the judge’s family.

If anything, there’s a large portion of the justice system working diligently to protect Trump. A speedy trial, a fair trial, and being judged by a jury of his peers is the last thing Trump wants.

MAGAts claim the trial in New York City, where Trump was found guilty on 34 counts, is rigged. Yet, Trump’s team also picked out the jurors. The people who testified were from Trump World.

And the order for Steve Bannon to report to prison isn’t even immediate. Not only is Trump still NOT IN JAIL, but Steve Bannon also is NOT IN JAIL!

When and if Steve Bannon does finally report to prison, he will be forced to take a shower when he checks in. Are MAGAts going to complain about the injustice of that too? Who knows, maybe Bannon has named and gotten attached to his flies.
