I’m ahead of schedule with my cartoons so I intended to take today off. Readers were still getting a new cartoon with the one I drew for CNN on Friday. Yay, a day off! But then my friend and colleague Lalo Alcaraz saw the rough for this cartoon, which I published on Friday, and pointed out that I had the sign wrong, corrected it, and then “demanded” as my new “Spanish editor” to draw it.
Lalo draws great cartoons, he’s one of my favorites, and he’s a Herblock Prize winner and a two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, so he may be onto something…so I drew it.

The correct Spanish makes it better toon! My Espanol is rusty too!

Yeah, Latin languages don’t use the “noun as adjective” thing that English has “i.e. shoe factory”, it has to be “factory of shoes”. Nothing like learning a new language (French for me) to educate on grammatical minutiaie. Anyhow, GREAT toon.
