Nyet

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky came to town and Republicans said, “Nyet.”

President Joe Biden said, “”I will not walk away from Ukraine, and neither will the American people,” but Republicans are.

Republicans are offering up a litany of bogus reasons to deny further financial and military support in Ukraine’s fight against Putin’s illegal invasion.

Some argue that the United States should be footing the bill for Ukraine’s fight, but the fact is Europe has supplied Ukraine with more aid than we have.

They argue we shouldn’t support Ukraine until we do something about our southern border which isn’t anywhere near Ukraine. Duh. They compare refugees seeking help at our border to Russia’s illegal invasion with tanks, armed drones, fighter jets, bombs, and soldiers. Immigrants are not invading our border to kill us. Meanwhile, Putin is bombing hospitals and daycare centers. This is an extremely stupid and callous equivalence. How in the hell is your racism against brown people an argument against supporting Ukraine?

Republicans argue that we can’t support Ukraine because they care about our debt. Somehow, the people who helped Trump add over $7.8 trillion to our national debt keep a straight face while making this argument. Saving Western democracy from Putin’s fascism isn’t as important to Republicans as permanent tax cuts for billionaire assholes.

Others argue there’s too much corruption in Ukraine and again, somehow keep a straight face while supporting Grifter-in-Chief Donald Trump.

The truth is, those are just excuses to cover up that the Republican Party is subservient to Putin through an extension of sycophancy to Donald Trump. While there are still a few Republicans who understand Russia is not our friend, there are too many Republicans with their lips attached to an orange ass belonging to the guy who called Putin a “genius” for invading Ukraine.

Republicans are traitors to democracy and they’re embarrassing us on the world stage.

  1. Who knows? Russians might be our friends — if they were allowed to express an opinion! But decidedly, Trump is Putin’s bitch, and Republicans are Trump’s bitches. Putin is the one who hates not only the USA but all democratic nations. What he sees is himself as Emperor of Earth, but Ukraine is standing in his way. We should be thanking Ukraine, they are being destroyed while holding Putin in check. He picked the wrong country to be his first victim! Lucky for everyone!

    1. You said: “Putin is the one who hates not only the USA but all democratic nations.”
ALL democratic nations? I think you are overreacting.
Since the fall of USSR, there is no urgency for expanding NATO near to Russia’s fence. A provocative movement that doesn’t care to Russia’s sense of security. Don’t forget before Ukraine war, Russia submitted a security guarantee proposal to NATO. Unfortunately it was rejected by NATO.

      1. That was NOT a security guarantee but a demand that NATO pull back all military activity from Eastern Europe including Ukraine. But here’s a fun fact: Ukraine is a sovereign nation and Russia has zero business in dictating its policies are making demands of it. Putin also lied and said he had no plans to attack Ukraine. This is an illegal invasion.

      2. Demanding NATO to pull back all unnecessary military activity from Eastern Europe is the same as demanding a sense of security (which is ignored by NATO). Is it okay if Russia build an unnecessary military base in Cuba?
Ukraine is in front of Russia’s fence, and Russia has no problem if Ukraine joining European Union (except the NATO military pact).
Don’t forget to recall the Minsk II agreement, and who told Ukraine to go to war.

  2. Tikno is gaslighting. The Minsk II Agreement was over Russian-backed insurgents fighting in the Donbas region of Ukraine. The statement “who told Ukraine to go to war” is bullshit. Russia illegally invaded Ukraine, and they did it over lies. Tikno probably works for the Russian disinformation campaign. I’d rather not reply to goons like this but I have a hard time not responding to lies.

    1. 1) Insurgents that want to break free from Ukraine’s grip. This is the same as the western powers supporting many insurgents in various countries who want to fight against the legitimate government. Is that fair?
      2) You are reluctant to respond to my comments about NATO’s unnecessary military activity in the Russia’s fence.
      3) My comments never attack anyone’s personality, and I argue as a free person.
      4) Okay…. I won’t anymore.
