A boat with up to 750 migrants capsized off the coast of Greece last week. Only about 100 survived and only 82 bodies were recovered. The boat was full of refugees from Egypt, Pakistan, Palestine, Afghanistan, and Syria and was headed to Italy from Tobruk, Libya. This is the result of human trafficking.
Human traffickers don’t care about the humans they’re trafficking. They don’t care about what they’re escaping from. They don’t care what happens to them on their journey. They don’t care what happens to them after they arrive at their destination. They only care about the payout. For some human traffickers, payment isn’t just in cash.
For human traffickers like Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the payment is political points. The Republican base is evil. Cruelty is the point of GOP policies. When Republican governors export refugees from their states to blue states, it’s not to help the migrants. It’s only done to score points with their vile supporters. They definitely don’t care what happens to the migrants when they arrive at their destinations. They don’t care how it affects the communities where they’re sending the migrants.
When Republican governors send migrants to New York City, Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, etc, they don’t even alert the communities that migrants are coming. These political stunts aren’t even done to help their states. DeSantis doesn’t even export migrants from Florida, instead, shipping them off from Texas. Ron DeSantis used Florida taxpayer money to deport migrants from Texas to Massachusetts. How does this help Florida? It doesn’t. It only helps Ron DeSantis.
There are also reports that the migrants are lied to in order to convince them to get on the buses and planes.
DeSantis signed a bill into law allocating $12 million to deport migrants…from Florida, not Texas. And in deporting migrants from Texas, he used a charter airline company he has ties to. Did he reward political benefactors with state money? The Florida governor’s office hasn’t been forthcoming with information about DeSantis’ human trafficking stunt.
Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis, and other GOP governors using migrants for political stunts are just as evil as the human trafficker who loaded over 700 immigrants on that tiny boat that capsized last week.
Republican human traffickers should be charged criminally. Why haven’t they?
Creative note: I thought using an image of the actual boat that capsized would be more effective, and get my point across, better than drawing an overloaded boat. I wanted readers to see exactly how it looked before it capsized. I believe the use of the photo is fair use, and I did consult with a couple of colleagues who agreed with me. I did add credit to Getty Images, which owns the photo.
Music note: I listened to Fastball.

DeSanitizer would love to put every person of colour on a boat to Cuba if he could, but he knows Cuba would retaliate. So too might the Feds. It’s illegal for Americans to travel to Cuba.

Compare to the, recent sinking of the tourist submarine, the Titan, this, doesn’t seem, quite, “print-worthy”, as, those who died are, the nobodies, and the deaths in the, submarine underwater adventure tour were all, millionaires, or, billionaires, the rich and the, famous…but hey, that is, the, values of the, societies we live in right now: only the rich and the famous, deserve that, headshot, the nobodies, aren’t even, mention-worthy…
