Trump the Hunter

Republicans are howling, crying, screaming, and getting all sorts of butthurt over the plea deal the Justice Department has made with Hunter Biden.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy has called it a “sweetheart deal” and Trump said it’s the equivalent of a speeding or parking ticket (I’m not entirely sure which type of ticket he said since I just got booted from Truth Social. More on that below). Other Republicans are saying Hunter’s deal isn’t fair. And they’re right. It’s not fair.

It’s not fair because if Hunter Biden wasn’t Joe Biden’s son, then Bill Barr’s Justice Department under Donald Trump wouldn’t have opened an investigation. Remember, this is the same administration that extorted Ukraine with promised military aid in exchange for dirt on the Bidens.

It’s unfair because if Hunter Biden wasn’t Joe Biden’s son, the investigation wouldn’t have lasted five years. Keep in mind that the prosecutor in charge of this in Delaware was a Trump appointee who President Biden could have fired. Most presidents get rid of the previous president’s appointed U.S. attorneys and appoint their own. Donald Trump did. This deal was made with his appointed U.S. attorney.

This has nothing to do with the laptop. This is about Hunter not filing taxes for two years and lying on a form when purchasing a gun. The taxes have been filed and paid and for that, Hunter has probation on two misdemeanors. That means if Hunter was president, Republicans would have grounds for impeachment. What’s strange is that the Department of Justice investigated late payments on taxes for five years. If this is all they have after a five-year investigation, that means it’s all they have.

When Hunter purchased the firearm, he lied on the paperwork, saying he did not have a drug addiction when he clearly did. That is a crime. Hunter Biden has agreed to enter a Pretrial Diversion Agreement. Handling the gun charge as a diversion case means Hunter Biden will not technically be pleading guilty to that crime. Diversion is an option typically applied to nonviolent offenders with substance abuse problems. If Hunter successfully meets the conditions of the diversion program, the gun charge would be removed from his record at the end of that period.

House Republicans are issuing subpoenas for information on Hunter and other Bidens’ income, which is ironic as hell since they’ve spent the past six years helping Trump hide his income and tax filings.

Republicans are claiming there are two equal systems of justice for Democrats and Republicans, which they didn’t mention when the Justice Department decided it didn’t have enough evidence to charge Matt Gaetz with sex trafficking teenage girls.

What isn’t equal are the circumstances. Hunter’s case involves unpaid taxes which he eventually did pay. It doesn’t involve any of the conspiracy theories about the laptop because there is zero evidence on the laptop of any criminality by anyone. In contrast, Donald Trump’s cases involve violations of the Espionage Act, insurrection, election interference, and a bunch of other malicious felony-type shit. There is no equivalency here. There are differences between felonies and misdemeanors. And if you want to talk about influence peddling by taking money from foreign governments, then let’s talk about Trump’s deal with LIV Golf and Jared’s mysterious gift of $2 billion from the same Saudi fund that finances the golf shit.

The thing that’s most odd about this is that crimes about unpaid taxes and gun purchases should be right up the Republican’s alley. If Hunter was a Republican, they’d all be waving signs saying, “Free Hunter.”

On another note… I got banned from Truth Social last night.

I didn’t join Truth Social to engage with Trumpers and fucknuts. I joined for the reason of journalistic research, so I’d know what Truth Social was. I was able to report on how long it took to be approved to join (weeks) and that the rumor there was a fee to join was false. I was able to experience and report on how well the platform operated (shitty). While some Trump critics would attack Truth Social without firsthand knowledge or experience, I did. But it was useful. I was able to see how Trumpers would react not just to my cartoons, but how triggered they got over my profile photo which was of me in a face mask. And oh boy, that really triggered them. I was also able to go straight to it for Trump’s official statements on various subjects which I was able to quote on this blog.

One thing I didn’t do was fraternize or engage unless it was a reply to a comment on my work. I didn’t scroll through Truth Social looking for debates. I didn’t have time or interest in that. My daily routine with it was to post my cartoons and 30-second timelapse videos, and then I’d move on with my life. This banning actually frees me up and now there’s one less thing to do in my daily routine.

So what’d I do to get the ban? I don’t know. Other social media platforms tell me how I violated their inconsistent “terms of service” when they suspend or restrict me. They’re very clear about it. Usually, it’s an anti-hate cartoon. The only other time I got an actual ban was from Instagram who then unbanned me but wouldn’t give me my account back, so I did create a new one as Instagram is a very valuable resource for me. I didn’t create an anonymous or fake name. I have been suspended, restricted, or banned on nearly every platform for my cartoons except Twitter (which has only locked my account for using copyrighted music in my videos, which I stopped doing…on Twitter). I’ve taken hits from Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The LinkedIn removals of my cartoons got so bad that I just stopped posting there. With Truth Social, they usually only “censored” my cartoons, as in putting them in a blurry box to make people click if they wanted to see them, and they did remove a few here and there, but never suspended me. Now, I have an actual ban from the platform that says “Anything goes.” I like to believe that since it was last night, then the ban is for yesterday’s cartoon on Perry/Neely/Rittenhouse, as that’s something I can be proud of. I can live with that.

Yes, I appealed but only for posterity’s sake. I can’t say they wouldn’t let me back in if I don’t appeal. I’m not going to rejoin under a new account or fake name as that would defeat the purpose. And no, the purpose was never to look for fights, troll, or trigger people there.

My claim of being the cartoonist punished the most by social media has only strengthened.

    1. I had two other people message me about that mistake which is the way I prefer to be informed about them, not posted in the comments. Thank you. By the way, everyone who caught that one missed one other mistake. Weird how that works.

  1. Well getting banned from a trump platform, it took them this long to do it – Mark that one off your Bucket List. Rumours is that his contract is up at the end of June and then back on twitter, so watch yourself there as they will hit NEW lows on content. Nice job doing the Hunter case, 5 years and the MAGAt are not happy, double jeopardy “prevents double punishment for the same acts, as well as the unwarranted harassment of an accused by multiple prosecutions.” (Canadian Law), not sure if same in the States. Cheers and Modelos all around for getting banned.

  5. We all know that the people who squeal loudest about Free Speech, including Musk and whoever is running Truth Social, don’t actually care that much about free speech unless it comes from their side. So, no surprise you would get banned for a cartoon criticizing violence…surprised they didn’t kick you out faster for having the wrong kind of opinions.
