Most of these were drawn last Friday, April 28.

My editor at CNN assigned me to do a cartoon on the bankruptcy of Bed, Bath, and Beyond. This was my favorite of my submissions, but it wasn’t selected.

This was drawn a few days before the rest here. I wasn’t really into this cartoon but I kept working on it. It was too much of a straight-up metaphor for me. But I still submitted it to CNN. The problem with the cartoon is there’s too much baggage here for Biden and not enough for Trump.

I drew this last Thursday, April 27, and debated with myself if I should send it to CNN, or the one below. I decided to send it to my newspaper clients and let CNN have a shot at the other idea on the debt ceiling. I was thinking that CNN wouldn’t want a dog-kicking cartoon. The finished cartoon did very well on social media.

I sent this one to CNN but that was before I knew they wanted something on Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I still like this one. I like the argument it makes. I may do something similar to it later in the week.

I wasn’t real crazy about this one.

I think this is OK and it’s the one CNN picked. Honestly, I wasn’t into the subject but that’s not a big deal. I did have fun with the artwork though. I think it’s the second-best cartoon of the assigned subject.

I didn’t like this at all, but I do like the buzzards.

I don’t like this one either.

This one isn’t too bad.
So which of these are your favorites?
Creative note, sort of: I wrote this entire blog Friday but wanted to publish it later in the day, so I had it saved in my “draft” folder…and then I forgot about it until Saturday morning. But my usual weekend schedule was thrown out of whack Saturday by going to Portsmouth, Virginia to spend the weekend with my friends Christian and Patty who were throwing a coronation party. Have you ever had a Krispy-Kreme donut roasted over a pit fire? So I decided to save this blog until Sunday, even though it’s already a busy day with me publishing the daily cartoon and CNN’s cartoon.

I like the buzzards too. It sucks that F*cker Carlson will land a well paying job somewhere and thousands of decent people are losing theirs.
