Each of these roughs is from last week, except for the first one.
I drew this one two weeks ago and held off on drawing it because my CNN cartoon for that week also featured Borat. I wanted a little time to pass before I threw another Borat out there (this time for my clients). I knew both of these idiots would be back in the news soon…and right when I was about to give up on this, I found a use for it…sorta. I just added one more moron to it.
I love McLovin’ but I figured a lot of people wouldn’t know who he is. If you do, give yourself a bonus point.
We almost went with this one for the CNN newsletter, but we felt the next cartoon was stronger.
So I drew this Friday with it set to be published on Sunday for the newsletter, and on Saturday I saw that my colleague Clay Bennett basically did the same cartoon, except with President Joe Biden instead of Uncle Sam. I blogged about it. And then, I saw that another cartoonist did the mask tan line thing (and he probably published it before anyone). So, maybe it wasn’t that unique of an idea.
I didn’t really like this one and it’s a case of throwing something at the wall to see if it’ll stick. It didn’t. This is a case where my editor asked what I was trying to say and I replied, “I don’t know.”
These people are already doing it. I saw a post this week by a MAGA goon portraying himself as being persecuted because maybe someone will ask him if he’s been vaccinated while he goes around without a mask, then goes into a big rant about being offended by seeing people wearing masks. The two things I loved about his post was that he missed the irony and how he made himself a victim before anything has happened to him.
I liked this one though I didn’t draw it very well here.
I almost went with this one last week.
You can’t do the honor system with people who don’t have any honor. The only way around this will be for businesses to continue with policies requiring customers to wear face masks. Also, it’ll get around that whole who’s been vaxxed or not shit. I probably should have drawn this cartoon.
