My friend and former newspaper colleague Laura Hutchison wrote today, “I had the honor of meeting Rep. Lewis when he was our Herblock lecturer in 2017. I took these notes during his speech: ‘Get in trouble. Good trouble. Necessary trouble. Make some noise.’ In these times, this hero’s voice will be sorely missed—meaning the rest of us will have to make even more noise.”
But, all and any help is greatly appreciated and it helps keep me going. Think of me like a street performer busking out tunes on a corner (I won’t play “Wonderwall.” I promise). If you like the tune, or in this case, toon, throw a buck into the tip jar. It’ll help me play another song, draw another toon, write another blog, make another video, and post another snarky post on social media. It’ll help keep me alive. You can also order a signed print for $40. And if you don’t like the PayPal option, you can snail mail it to my P.O. Box.
You can purchase a signed print of this cartoon.

Watch me draw.
Unfortunately, I guesss because I’m Canadian — which is not at all an unfortunate person to be — I have no idea what your above toon is about. I will have to go looking for who you are referring to, and why his name should be on everyone’s lips. No insult or disambiguation intended, just wish you had given more references to add a backstory to a name, and a raison d’etre to a man.

You won’t need to Google, or ask Alexa or Siri, just tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NPR, or any REAL news program (don’t know, and don’t care, how FOXED UP NEWS, Breitfart, Limburger, and the other lowlifes are going to cover this) to learn who John Lewis was and what he did.

John Lewis made noise for 60 years, he was hated for it. Those who opposed him were the ugly, corrupt American politicians and rightwing “its god and country types” that had as much to do with goodness and Christ as a murderous, torturing dictator.

I googledi. And I realized I had forgotten his name somewhere. Quite the resume. Quite the activist. Need many more like him. Many MANY MORE!

Perfect! John Lewis had a warriors soul and a poets heart, he knew what it cost to stand between what should be and what American politics actually did.
