Prehistoric Plats

This is a local cartoon drawn for the Fredericksburg Advance.

This issue is especially complicated with lots of nuts and bolts, so I’m not going to spend two hours or more trying to explain it. To understand it better, take it from Advance writer Adele Uphaus.

But the gist is that the new development, Mary’s Landing, says they don’t need approval from the city council to move forward with their housing project, and all they need is approval from city staffers. They’re also using a plat (a map of the divisions of a piece of land) from 1891.

Signed prints: The signed prints are just $40.00 each. Every cartoon on this site is available. You can pay through PayPal. If you don’t like PayPal, you can snail mail it to Clay Jones, P.O. Box 3721, Fredericksburg, VA 22402. I can mail the prints directly to you or if you’re purchasing as a gift, directly to the person you’re gifting.

Tales From The Trumpster Fire: I have five copies and you can order yours, signed by me, for $45.00. You can pay through PayPal to clayjonz@gmail.com. You can also snail it to P.O. Box 3721, Fredericksburg, VA 22402.

Knee-Deep In Mississippi: There are only 16 copies left of my first book, published in 1997. These can be purchased for $40.00

Tip Jar: If you want to support the cartoonist, please donate through PayPal to clayjonz@gmail.com. You can also snail it to P.O. Box 3721, Fredericksburg, VA 22402.

1891… what a coincidence… that’s the year that the Slimy Six Injustices on the Not-So-Supreme Court are working to take all of us back to.

  2. Just to say: although there were mammals during the Mesozoic (pizza rat is nearly plausible), there not yet felines, so the cat doesn’t belong on the ancient plat.

Elected officials may not be the best people for decisions such as this. That’s why there are city managers, city water and sewage departments, even professional dog catchers. They can better evaluate projects, and because of paper trails, less susceptible to emoluments. Follow the money!
