Gaza Eclipse

Seven aid workers were killed when the Israeli military bombed their convoy. The World Central Kitchen has provided 43 million meals to Palestinians in Gaza since the start of the war in October but now say they’re ending their work there, at least for now, and sent three ships back to Cyprus that contained hundreds of tons of food.

Other aid groups are suspending or considering ending operations in Gaza while the United States, France, Jordan, and Egypt are conducting airdrops of food and medical supplies into Gaza. So far, Israel has killed over 200 aid workers since the war began.

This is not the last time Israel will kill civilians in this war. It’s not the first time either. We’ll continue to read and hear stories of Israel bombing hospitals, refugee camps, food convoys, and other shelters.

Israel blames Hamas for hiding among civilians, but Hamas being bad guys doesn’t give Israel the right or excuse to be bad guys too. Over 30,000 Palestinian civilians have died during this war. Over 90 journalists have been killed.

Israeli Defense Force Chief Herzi Halevi made a rare apology for Israel, accepting blame for the strike that killed the aid workers. You know it’s bad when Israel accepts blame.

It’s time for a ceasefire in Gaza, it’s time for a two-state solution, and it’s time for Benjamin Netanyahu to go.

  1. I was torn whether to ‘Like’ this cartoon or not since it’s so sad and I’m so infuriated by what is going on, but I did ‘like’ it because, Clay, you hit the nail on the head (again). It is long past time for a ceasefire. And Robin (above) is right – throw the American flag on that bomb. I read the other online (a reputable source, but I can’t recall which one) that Biden just OK’s more weapons -including 2000 lb bombs – to Israel. WTF?? I normally am fine with Biden, but this disgusts me. He’s talking out of both sides of his mouth when he says we need to protect civilians, then approves more weapons, when it’s clear that Netanyahu is out of control. I’ll definitely be sharing this cartoon and commentary today, Clay. Thank you!

    1. Exactly. I sometimes think of Eisenhower and his warning about the military/industrial complex. So many of these wars are fueled by the vast quantities of weapons we and other countries have sold around the world and wind up in the control of extremist governments.

    1. This posted before intended. What is infuriating is that Hamas should have been treated like any criminal/terrorist organization – ferret it out and destroy it. I think we should have used our intelligence organizations to help in doing that. It seems that this was used as an excuse to punish the Palestinian people. If it turned out that a plan to do what Hamas did originated in New York City, would Israel be justified in bombing the city to rubble in an attempt to kill the perpetrators? I think not. Of course, we only know what is allowed to be published and who knows what is going on behind the scenes. No matter – what we are supporting is morally wrong. Just my opinion.

  2. The attack on these humanitarian workers was not an accident. Isreal (under Netanyahu’s leadership) has made it clear that they will stop at nothing to eliminate Hamas. Stopping humanitarian work is part of their plan. They don’t care about the starvation deaths of innocent Palestinians. They are just collateral damage occurring while achieving their goal.

    Isreal has become the monster.

    1. Netan’yahoo is not out just to el8minate Hhamas, but to kill all Palestinians. He is a monster on Hitler’s scale.. imagine if he is head of the State of Israel for another 13 or so years. HE MUST BE STOPPED NOW!

  3. Logic tells us that Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the strike on the WCK convoy … otherwise it could not have happened. I call for Netanyahu to be arrested and face a War Crimes Tribunal similar to Nuremberg. If found guilty, he should be executed in just the same fashion those 7 aid workers and some 40,000 innocent civilians have been murdered by the IDF under his orders. My patience is gone.
