Horny For Hostages

When asked whether she would vote to certify the 2024 election, no matter who wins, Republican Representative Elise Stefanik wouldn’t commit and said, “We will see if this is a legal and valid election. What we’re seeing so far is that Democrats are so desperate they’re trying to remove President Trump from the ballot.”

Translation from Goon speak: It’s only a “legal and valid” election if Trump wins. Take in the fact that Stefanik only became chairwoman of the House by becoming a sycophant after Liz Cheney voted to impeach Trump.

Stefanik objected to the certification of the 2020 election and said on the floor of the House on January 6, 2021, “I stand by my comments that I made on the House floor. I stood up for election integrity, and I challenged and objected to the certification of the state of Pennsylvania because of the unconstitutional overreach. So, I absolutely stand by my floor speech, I am proud to support President Trump.”

Stefanik is too stupid to realize that she revealed in her statement that her objection wasn’t about “election integrity” but only about her sycophancy for Donald Trump. She did not stand up for election integrity, but only for Donald Trump, even if it meant overturning an election.

It’s weird how people talk about election integrity while trying to invalidate the civil rights of over 81 million voters.

Of course, there is no evidence of voter fraud or unconstitutional overreach in Pennsylvania, or any state, in the 2020 election. Trump lost. Fact, fact, fuckity, fact fact.

Stefanik also echoed Donald Trump’s use of the word “hostage” to describe the white nationalist insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021, trying to help goons like Stefanik overturn the election Donald Trump lost.

Last Sunday, one day after the third anniversary of the white nationalist terrorist attack, Stefanik went on Meet the Press and said, “I have concerns about the treatment of January 6 hostages. I have concerns, we have a role in Congress of oversight over our treatment of prisoners, and I believe we’re seeing the weaponization of the federal government against not just President Trump, but we’re seeing it against conservatives.”

Again, there is no evidence that the federal government has been weaponized against Trump, Republicans, MAGATs, or conservatives. This is talking point bullshit. Over 1,200 of the insurrectionists have been charged criminally for their actions during the terrorist attack, and over half of the more than 890 found guilty of federal crimes have been sentenced to prison time.

The white nationalist terrorists who tried to destroy our democracy and give control of our government to an Oompa-Loompa dictator are not hostages. Those who’ve been sentenced jail time are prisoners.

A hostage is what kidnappers take, or bank robbers, or Hamas, or the Iranian, Russian, and North Korean governments. Patriotic Americans don’t equate our justice system to systems run by terrorists and dictators.

Liz Cheney went on Face the Nation and blasted Stefanik’s horrible choice of words, saying, “That word she used is exactly the word that Donald Trump uses. And that’s why she’s using it. And it’s outrageous, and it’s disgusting. These are people who were involved in violence against police officers in the assault on the Capitol, and … it’s disgraceful for Donald Trump to be saying what he’s saying.”

If Trump seizes power this year, there will be political hostages. I only know this because Trump has promised to politicize the Justice Department to go after his enemies. Stefanik has not spoken out against this. If anything, she’ll be sure to certify the election, if Trump “wins,” and join him in making political opponents hostages.

Donald Trump has openly talked about pardoning everyone involved in the white nationalist terrorist attack on our nation. If Trump is returned to the White House, every day will be Friday the 13th for democracy and law and order.

  1. Two things to note in today’s news. 1. Trump refused to sign an Illinois pledge, traditionally signed by all candidates, that he would not “advocate the overthrow of the government.” In 2016 and 2020, like other candidates, Trump signed it. 2. Republicans in Congress are stating that they will not commit to respecting the results of the 24 election. They hope enough states deny Biden a majority in the electoral college, thus throwing the election into the House of Representatives as outlined by the Twelfth Amendment. There, each state would have a single vote, and since there were more Republican-dominated states than Democratic ones, Trump would become president. Ain’t that something? We are so fuckity fucked.

  2. Again, Clay, by calling Stefanik stupid you weaken your case. She’s not (surprisingly, she’s a Harvard graduate.) She’s venal, self-serving and corrupt. Many nominally intelligent people are. Most MAGAts are stupid; they are willfully ignorant and lacking in imagination and empathy (but the worst are not stupid.)

Also, I believe the Camp Crystal Lake thing needs explication. And who is Voorhees, please?

Thanks for the tip on the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Terrific band who, for some reason, I had overlooked.
