Art of the Mein Kampf

My friend Mike Peterson wrote about Godwin’s Law in today’s Comic Strip of the Day, which is the adage that the longer an argument last on the internet, the likelihood increases that Hitler or Nazis will be invoked. Usually when someone is compared to Hitler, it’s a cheap attack because the accuser isn’t intelligent enough to provide a counterpoint with context. It’s like every time someone claims I’m supporting Hamas when I criticize Israel for killing civilians. Comparing someone to Hitler or Nazis is discouraged as it’s usually hyperbole in place of intellectual thought, but that doesn’t mean you can’t ever use it because sometimes someone’s words and actions deserve to be compared to Hitler. Today, that person is Donald Trump.

Trump has promised to be a dictator if he’s returned to the White House, but he says only for one day. He’s arguing that to “make America great again,” he’ll have to bypass laws, the Constitution, and those other two equal branches of government, but just for a day. Donald Trump had four years to create an infrastructure plan and replace Obamacare with “something better,” and he thinks he only needs to be a dictator for a day to fuck over this country? Donald Trump probably couldn’t dress himself in a day.

Trump has called his political opponents “vermin” that need to be rooted out.

Trump has praised and championed dictators. He claims he’s good friends with Kim Jong Un who prefers him over President Biden, as though that’s an endorsement. He recently pointed out that Putin, who murders and imprisons his political opponents, has endorsed the idea that President Biden has weaponized the Justice Department to go after Trump and that we are not a democracy anymore because of it. Nobody is trying to poison Donald Trump. He doesn’t need a taste tester for his bucket from KFC.

And most recently, Trump channeled Hitler by saying immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

Trump was speaking in Iowa this week and said undocumented immigrants from Africa, Asia, and South America, places he described as “shithole” countries when he was president (sic), are “destroying the blood of our country,” and then referenced his previous comments about “poisoning our blood.”

Trump said, “That’s what they’re doing. They’re destroying our country. They don’t like it when I said that. And I never read Mein Kampf. They said, ‘Oh, Hitler said that.'”

Hitler did say that.

In a chapter titled “Race and People” in Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf, written during the nine months he spent in prison for starting an insurrection before he rose to power, Hitler wrote, “All the great civilizations of the past became decadent because the originally creative race died out, as a result of contamination of the blood.” In another passage, he links “the poison which has invaded the national body” to an “influx of foreign blood.”

Trump states he hasn’t read Mein Kampf, which is believable because we’ve watched him struggle with a teleprompter (Thigland, Yo-Semite, Two Corinthians, Ababad, proh-ess, Jaroozum, peninshula, internate, diversary, Missuria, etc), but channeling Hitler’s words and ideas is just as bad as plagiarizing the guy. I don’t want a president who has a mug shot just like I don’t want a president who has to defend talking like a Nazy by stating, “I never read Mein Kampf.” Trump and his sycophants don’t understand that it’s not OK to speak like Hitler even if it’s just a coincidence.

But maybe we should read Mein Kampf just to see what else Trump plans to do to this nation. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Did Hitler write anything about grabbing fräuleins by the muschi?

The Biden Campaign is doing something right for once. They’re comparing Trump’s statements to Hitler’s in a post on Xitter (I think I’m going to use that name from now on for Elon’s hate site).

From the Xweet by the Biden Campaign: Trump said, “‘We will root’ out my political opponents that ‘live like vermin’ within our country. Hitler said, “Jews are ‘vermin’ and ‘pests’ that must be ‘exterminated.'”

Trump said, “‘Immigrants are ‘poisoning the blood of our country.'” Hitler said, “‘Contamination of the blood’ by ‘an inferior race’ will lead to the fall of Germany.”

Trump said, “My political opponents ‘within our country’ are ‘far worse’ than the dictators of Russia, North Korea.” Hitler said, “We must all ‘recognize the greater inner enemy’ in Germany.”

When Trump talks like a Nazi, which he pronounces as “nazeez,” and Goose steps like a Nazi, I think it’s fair to compare him to Nazis. And everyone who defends this racist Nazi shit from Trump, like Ohio Senator J.D. Vance who repeated Trump’s words about “poison” in our “blood,” then they should be compared to Nazis too.

I’m looking forward to the day when Trump, who missed being a member of the Hitler Youth by a decade, goose-steps his orange ass into a prison cell.
