Defamation Donny

Donald Trump is countersuing E. Jean Carroll for her claims that he raped her.

A jury determined last month that Carroll proved Trump sexually abused her nearly 30 years ago in a dressing room of the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan, but they did not find that he raped her as she claims. However, she is still going on claiming he did.

The day after the verdict, Carroll was asked on CNN about the jury not finding Trump had raped her, and she replied, “Oh yes he did, oh yes he did.”

In papers filed in New York City, Trump says it’s wrong for Carroll to keep claiming he raped her when the jury only found that he sexually abused her. That’s a weird argument.

In using the jury’s conclusion that he’s not a rapist, he’s agreeing with them that he’s a sexual abuser. It’s like he’s saying, “Hey, I stopped after sticking my fingers inside her vagina against her will, but my penis never went in there…so don’t call me a rapist.” In my view, that does make a person a rapist.

Carroll won $2 million for Trump’s sexual abuse plus $20,000 in punitive damages. It also gave her $2.7 million for defamation, thanks to his repeated attacks on her truthfulness after he had left office, along with $280,000 in punitive damages.

Now, Carroll has a new suit against Trump because he too can’t stop talking and defaming her. After the jury found that Trump had sexually abused her, Trump continued to call the accusation a hoax and Carroll a liar. Now, she’s asking for millions more.

I expect these two new cases to be hashed out and settled. It’s amazing Donald Trump wants to occupy his time with this when he has ongoing criminal cases in Manhattan, Miami, Atlanta, and Washington.

Creative note: I wrote this cartoon yesterday in my Ideas email. I have an open email where I write down ideas. There’s no recipient for it and it hangs out in my draft folder. It’s easier than closing and reopening documents for me. But I kept tinkering with the text for this cartoon through the night and even while lettering the cartoon. I was surprised when proofer Laura only spotted a couple of things to change, and they were for style, not grammatical. This is another one of those cartoons where the lettering is the bulk of the cartoon. Laura said she enjoyed reading it out loud which inspired me to do the same. Try it. You may have to pause to catch your breath.

  1. Trump has no concept of keeping his mouth shut. He slso has an ego that needs to be fed in the media no matter how ugly or reprehensible it is. Give him enough rope and he will hang himself 13 times over. He has no concept of reslonsibility. Nothing he does is illegai or immoral to him!
