Roughs, Volume 87

All these rough sketches are from the previous week except for the first one. Enjoy, kiddos.

CNNrough1182

This was my first idea after the Daunte Wright shooting but then I stopped myself knowing another cartoonist would also draw it. I was right. My colleague Jeff Stahler drew it while I was deciding not to.

CNNrough1181

I was assigned to do something on the vaccine and I struggled.

CNNrough1180

This is what landed in the newsletter for CNN Opinion last Sunday. I do enjoy drawing cows.

CNNrough1179

Before I found my cows, I took several stabs (no pun intended) at vaccine ideas. I love drawing cows and zombies. I like this one.

CNNrough1178

This is when it was getting late in the day and I was getting desperate. I don’t like this one and I’m glad my editor didn’t either.

CNNrough1177

I kinda liked this one but one didn’t have anything to do with the other.

CNNrough1176

This was OK.

CNNrough1174

I took a few jabs (no pun intended) at AstraZeneca, but honestly, I don’t want to do anything that contributes to the anti-vaccine hysteria. This would have been a small tribute to Chuck Jones (no relation that I’m aware of, darn it).

CNNrough1173

Another at the expense of AstraZeneca.

CNNrough1172

And another at AstraZeneca. These were the first I did after being assigned to do something on the virus and vaccinations. After this one, I was done with ideas on AstraZeneca and moved on.

CNNrough1171

I really liked this idea and I published it last Saturday.

CNNrough1170

I sat on this one for a couple of days and I knew it would be fun. There were a few changes.

CNNrough1175

I liked this one.

Tomorrow, I’ll be drawing more roughs and you will probably see them in a week or so. Right now, I have no idea what I’ll be drawing and throwing at CNN. You’ll see what I came up with this Sunday. Isn’t it exciting?
