It might sound crazy, but I believe fewer unplanned pregnancies would lead to fewer abortions. The people who do not share this belief are Republicans and other assorted right-wing religious zealots.

You would think the people who detest a woman’s right to choose would participate and promote programs that provided birth control. Instead, they cling to dogma that cuts off their nose to spite their face.

Hobby Lobby uses religion to deny birth control coverage to their employees. Now, Donald Trump has reversed the mandate in the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that says employers must provide this coverage. Now, your employer can take away your birth control coverage without citing religion as their excuse. They can do it just to be jerks.

Trump used to support a woman’s right to choose, and then he got involved in Republican politics and discovered he had to patronize lunatics. He probably doesn’t have any strong opinions on the matter and is just using this issue to curry favor with right-wing Republicans.

Congress is also appealing to the zealots. Last Tuesday, they passed a bill that will surely die in the Senate, but it plays to the fanatics. This proposed law would ban abortions of fetuses that have passed 20 weeks of gestation. It won’t become law, but it’ll help the GOP raise money from anti-abortion groups.

Representative Tim Murphy was one of the bill’s sponsors. On the same day of the vote, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published texts he sent encouraging his mistress to get an abortion when she had a pregnancy scare. He is now resigning in disgrace. Unfortunately, he’s not taking the rest of the GOP hypocrites with him.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “The president believes that the freedom to practice one’s faith is a fundamental right in this country . . . This is a president who supports the First Amendment, supports the freedom of religion — I don’t understand why that should be an issue.” Sure, Mango Mussolini believes in religious freedom, but why should your crackpot beliefs dictate someone else’s choices with birth control?

Birth control is healthcare, and that’s something Republicans don’t understand. More women voted for Trump than Hillary Clinton. How they couldn’t foresee these types of actions by Trump and the GOP is beyond me. Hopefully, they’ll remember this in 2018 and 2020. Voting for Republicans is bad for your healthcare.

What goes on in a woman’s uterus should not be her boss’s, her representative’s, or her moronic president’s business.

I want to thank everyone who has donated in the past. Your support helps me continue creating cartoons and columns with a little less stress in my life. Between competing syndicates with much larger resources, timid editors, and Trump supporters who attempt to intimidate the editors who do publish anything that criticizes their idol, it’s a challenge to make a career out of this. So your support (if you can) is appreciated. Want to help me continue to create cartoons and keep doing what I’m doing (pissing off conservatives)? Look to the right of this page and make a donation through PayPal. Every $40 donation will receive a signed print. All donations will receive my eternal gratitude.

  1. I don’t want to be a nitpicker, but in an era where facts are derided, I just want to make sure facts are used. According to Pew Research, 54% of women voters went for Clinton and 42% went for Trump. Still an appalling percentage went for this idiot, but not the majority. A majority of men voted for Trump, because apparently some pussies aren’t just for grabbing, they can also vote.
