Read the blog on my Substack.

There are 72 days left until the midterms.

Support your local cartoonist: If you want to support the cartoonist, please donate via PayPal to clayjonz@gmail.com, via Venmo to clay-jones-87, or by snail mail to Clay Jones, P.O. Box 3721, Fredericksburg, VA 22402.

All support is appreciated.

Signed prints and books: I cannot take orders for signed prints or for my books at this time. So please do not send me money or place orders for them until further notice. Because of the stroke, it is an ordeal for me to get to the post office, so we’re gonna hold off until I’m fully capable of doing so. I appreciate your understanding.

Merch: Did you know there’s a Claytoonz store? My cartoons are printed on mugs, clothing, caps, and even a Peezy T-shirt. If you ever want a specific cartoon on some merch, let me know, and I’ll add it.

  1. Not a great fan of today’s cartoon, but I really enjoyed the blog. In case of confusion, Clinton, while he balanced the budget did not pay off the national debt; he reduced its rate of growth. Fact, fuckety, fact FACT. But budget surpluses are anathema to the Tea Baggers and their descendents: The MAGAts and the MAHAs. To them, it smacks of government overreach, paying down the earlier credit card debt that Reagan and Bush the First left. How DARE they?

By the way, I left the US to be an ex-pat during the Clinton administration. When I moved, people would ask why and I would say I was a political refugee: that I never felt my views were represented by the government. I wasn’t lying or even making much of a joke, but no one believed me. Then Bush 2 stole the 2000 election and people started to believe. A bit of a reprieve during the middle of the road Obama administration. And then the shit hit the fan. I woke up the day after the 2016 election believing that a policy wonk, HRC, had been elected. I was SO wrong! But most everyone I met now believed I was a refugee and was supportive and absolved me of my guilt. I actually felt better for the first years of the highly competent Biden administration. I didn’t care about his lack of charisma and apparent confusion because I trusted his deference to expertise. But Americans one again betrayed me, preferring TV personalities to politicians, and functional illiterates to authors of policy. So, I’ll stay here, I imagine for my last years. I have an adequate health care system (I recommend that all my cadre of fellow cardiac sufferers come to Cantabria, where they will receive first class care at no out of pocket expense), pay my taxes ungrudgingly and enjoy the countryside. I do not qualify for US Social Security having accumulated only 38 of a required 40 Social Security credits, but live comfortably. I have little to complain about, although there is always the US and its stupidity and rapacious greed. Thanks for the space in which to rant, Clay. As Douglas Adams wrote: Thanks for all the fish.
