FXBG Homeless

This cartoon was drawn for the Fredericksburg Advance.

What’s going on here in Fredericksburg? The Economic Development Authority (EDA) is asking the city for $2 million to help the homeless in the city. Except, the EDA isn’t being specific about how they’re going to use this money to help the homeless. The best explanation is that they’re going to “invest” it.

Imagine asking a bank for a loan and telling them, “Don’t worry about what I’m going to spend it on.” See how fast you get that loan.

To get a better understanding of this issue than from a simple humble cartoonist, read this story.

Creative note: This was drawn on a train. I was traveling from Fredericksburg to Long Island. I finished that day’s cartoon for my newspapers on the train and then moved on to this cartoon. The coloring was completed in the home of Matt and Lucy Davies.
