By the way, the McRib is coming back. But didn’t McDonald’s tell us last year that it wasn’t ever coming back again? Didn’t they say that last year was the last time we’d ever be able to chomp down on a sticky slab of pork covered in BBQ sauce and topped with pickles and onions in a hoagie roll? The McRib should sponsor the Motley Crue Farewell Tour that never ends. But saying it’s the last time when it’s not is OK because, in the Trump era, lies are the new facts… or at least the alternative facts.
Donald Trump finally got a gag order yesterday after posting on his social media platform, Fraud Social….er, I mean, Truth Social, that an aide to the judge in the fraud trial was “running” the case against him. He also claimed she was dating Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer which is a rumor nobody wants about themselves.
Trump posted, “Schumer’s girlfriend, Allison R. Greenfield, is running this case against me. How disgraceful! This case should be dismissed immediately!!” And Trump did this right before a hearing in the case. He made sure to include a photo of Greenfield so his goons would know who to watch out for. Trump’s campaign shared the post in an email. She’s a clerk. She’s not prosecuting this case. She’s not judging it. Is he going to go after the bailiff next?
The judge called Trump and his legal team into the courtroom and said, “This morning one of the defendants posted to his social media account a disparaging, untrue and personally-identifying post about a member of my staff. Personal attacks on members of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate and I will not tolerate them in any circumstances.”
Judge Arthur Engoron said he had warned Trump Monday “off the record” about making such comments, but that Trump had ignored him. After Trump posted the material online Tuesday, the day after being warned “off the record,” Engoron ordered him to delete the post and it quickly disappeared.
The judge also said, “Consider this statement a gag order forbidding all parties from posting, emailing, or speaking publicly about any of my staff. Failure to abide by this order will result in serious sanctions.”
Well, let’s see how this works out. Will Trump actually abide by the gag order and not “truth” or make public statements in violation of the order? Trump has been using the trials to raise money and campaign. Trump has defied his lawyers’ wishes that he keep his Trump Trap shut, but will he defy a direct order from a judge? Will he risk being sanctioned and fined? Will he risk spending a night in jail? Oh, god…I really hope he does.
Special Counsel Jack Smith is also seeking a gag order for Trump in the federal case in Washington. He should get it.
Trump has a history of sending his goons to attack his enemies, real or perceived. Trump has freedom of speech but that doesn’t include ordering white nationalist terrorists to attack people. Donald Trump doesn’t care who gets hurt by his statements. He’s never apologized for any of them and it took hours before he called off his goons on January 6. During the attack, he continued tweeting to encourage them, even making a point for them to go after Mike Pence.
Trump needs to be gagged…literally.

It’s one of those if only situations But this is dragging on so long and more money from his (supporters) rolls in. Can money buy his election to president again?
