Biden Midterms

Here’s your cartoon for this week’s CNN Opinion newsletter. Please sign up to get these in your inbox every Sunday.

During the Virginia gubernatorial campaign, Republican Glenn Youngkin kept his distance from Donald Trump. Though Trump wanted to campaign in the state, Youngkin dodged inviting him. He expressed his love for Trumpism during the primary and even said Trump represented so many reasons he was running. His policies are Trump’s policies, but he didn’t connect them to Trump during the campaign. Saturday Night Live did a sketch of him still avoiding Trump after he won, but I disagree.

Now that Youngkin is governor-elect, I expect him to be as much of a public Trumper as Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott, and every red-state Republican governor. It’s not like he can run for re-election in Virginia.
