I’m a few days late posting these, but check out a few roughs from Thanksgiving week. I drew most of these while in Washington, D.C. the day before Thanksgiving.
I finished this one for CNN.
I liked this one and I drew it for my newspapers. Did you see the E.T. commercial?
I liked where this one was going but it didn’t get weird enough for me.
The idea here is that he’s dressed as Elvis. But I had already done something similar kinda sorta recently.
Second shot and I kinda liked this one.
The third version. This one might work better.
This was my favorite. The only problem was, I thought of it the day before the parade which meant if I was going to do it, then I had to go ahead and do it. I drew the finished version Thursday morning in a hotel room. This one did not take long to draw, but my girlfriend had breakfast without me.
This was my first idea while in Washington. It’s a cartoon and subject I knew I wouldn’t draw, as the issue would fly over faster than the big gas blob over the White House. I can’t remember why I wanted to add color in the rough or if I drew this at Blue Bottle Coffee in Union Station or at Starbucks in my hotel.
