Roughing It, Volume 9

I had a few ideas lined up for CNN last week when they told me they wanted me to do something on the “Obama Avenue” petition. Even though I had a few ideas sketched out on other issues, I loved the direction they wanted me to go in.

I almost did this one for my newspaper clients, but it was overtaken by other issues my enthusiasm for it wore off.

I kinda liked this one. Isn’t it ironic that the party that doesn’t care about endangered species is killing itself off?

I have my editors two versions of this one.

And then we didn’t use either.

I liked where this was going but it wasn’t there yet.

I didn’t like this one at all.

And this one didn’t work. But then I started on my assigned subject.

They actually selected the first idea I threw at them, but they didn’t tell me until after I drew four more. I kinda liked this one.

Another version of the same idea.

I liked this one the most at the time and I told that to my editors. I later drew it for my newspapers. Looking back now, I really like the one they picked.

Somewhere in the middle of all the “trolling Trump” ideas, I threw one at my editors with a note, “just messing with you.” They laughed. So which one is your favorite?

Support the cartoonist.

As I noted in a previous cartoon, these are perilous times for political cartoonists. But you can help me continue to create cartoons, blogs, and videos by making a contribution. All support, large and small, is greatly appreciated. You can also support me by purchasing a signed print (8 1/2×11) for $40, or a signed poster (18×24) for $100 by clicking the PayPal button (just include a note if you’re purchasing a print). If you want to support but don’t want to use PayPal, you can send a contribution through the mail (address is on the contact page. Again, include a note for a print).I don’t plan on going anywhere and your support will help guarantee that. Whether you support, can’t. or just choose not to, please know that I am truly thankful that you visit my site and read my work.

You can purchase a signed print of this cartoon.

Watch me draw.
