This cartoon was first published August 24, 2018, in The Costa Rica Star.
There were several protests in Costa Rica by white nationalists and even a few Neo-Nazis protesting against refugees coming to their country to escape the violence in Nicaragua. Most people in Costa Rica are welcoming the refugees and trying to help them. They know they don’t want to be there sleeping in a park permanently. Most people want to go home.
Donald Trump’s rhetoric has encouraged racists to come out into the open in the United States. Now, I believe it’s happening internationally.
Donald Trump is a vile and horrible person. Don’t be like Trump.

“White nationalists”? Are Ticos significantly whiter than Nicaraguans? Not that it would matter if they were, of course, but my impression is that this makes even less sense than usual.
