I don’t know that much about royalty and succession. The whole Duke of whatnot, Earl of whatever, and Prince of blaggityblag confuses me. My own family tree confuses me. I really don’t have that much interest in it.
Royal watchers are excited about the engagement of Prince Harry. What is unique about Harry’s engagement is that he’s marrying a divorcee, a woman of mixed race, and….gasp….AN AMERICAN!!!
A lot of people are upset about that race thing. We haven’t seen outrage like this since we were assaulted with a black man married to a white woman in that Cheerios commercial a couple years ago.
I did find one little tidbit that may be of interests to your royalty geeks. Meghan Markle, Harry’s finance, will not be referred to as “Princess Meghan.” That’s because she does not have royal blood, which is a good thing since Harry is marrying her. There’s been enough royal incest in the past.
Harry marrying Meghan Markle shows progress in the monarchy. However, if the crown makes her official title “Princess Harry,” and makes her identity his, then never mind about that progress thing.
Correction: I previously wrote that Markle has children and she does not. I read that somewhere I can’t remember and I didn’t follow up like I should have. I apologize for being sloppy.
Creative notes: This is a bonus cartoon because I’d like to take another Saturday off, watch movies, and eat ice cream. That’s also why the blog is short.
I totally meant to put Big Ben in the background, but I forgot.
I want to thank everyone who has donated in the past. Your support helps me continue creating cartoons and columns with a little less stress in my life. Between competing syndicates with much larger resources, timid editors, and Trump supporters who attempt to intimidate the editors who do publish anything that criticizes their idol, it’s a challenge to make a career out of this. So your support (if you can) is appreciated. Want to help me continue to create cartoons and keep doing what I’m doing (pissing off conservatives)? Look to the right of this page and make a donation through PayPal. Every $40 donation will receive a signed print (please specify which print you want or I won’t mail one). All donations will receive my eternal gratitude.
Since it’s so unlikely that Prince Harry will ever be King, I think he’s gone with the whole “IDGAF” mentality. LOL
However, wasn’t it a big “to do” when Prince William married Kate because she was a commoner? She wasn’t royalty either, but she got a title. She’s the Duchess of … wherever.
(I swear I don’t follow this crap; it’s just so darned ubiquitous, I can’t escape having some kinda familiarity.)

Kate isn’t Princess Kate, either. Another infusion of nonroyalness.
