  1. Do you think Palin gets as excited when she looks in her mirror? Certainly she sees a fascist there. Although Vlad likes to go shirtless, I think part of his motivation is his “pride” in not having manboobs. Where the Donald has pendulous duggs, Rootin’ tootin’ Putin has none. Despite the quibble, I like this cartoon as well or better than most of your recent ones. Unlike many of my fellow commenters, I am not a great fan of the easter egg hunt. I like the gestalt of this one. Its unity of message and lack of clutter.

Today’s Times is relatively quiet about the occupation of the capitol. Weird. When the 82nd Airborne was used to arrest protesters on 22nd October, 1967 there was a lot of notice given to using active duty troups to arrest “trespassers.” (My first arrest EVER!) When they used the National Guard to assault and arrest people protesting the illegal war being prosecuted in Cambodia (the so-called May Day Riots), the nation as a whole supported us (May 3-5, 1970 in DC). (My only time in RFK Stadium.) People lucky enough to be arrested protesting at the Capitol were compensated by the government about 25 years later. Unfortunately, I was arrested at GW Hospital after being tear gassed when asleep at the Student Union.

And this week, in a power grab of historic proportions, the Mango Mussolini sent federalized national guardsman to do … what, precisely?

Sorry, if my outrage is off topic. Possibly inappropriate. Living, as I do, in España vacia, I sometimes need to rant. Thanks for the motivation and the space.
