  1. One of the grocery stores where I frequently shop has a Mexican food section that featured the imported Coca-Cola made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. I think it does taste better, and that the real sugar is slightly less unhealthy than the corn juice. So once I put “Mexican Coke” on my shopping list, and the sheet on which I wrote that list later got used as a bookmark – in a book from the public library, and I accidentally returned the book with the old shopping list still in it.

The next day a cop rang my doorbell and wanted to know why I had “Mexican Coke” on a list that was in a library book that had been returned on my card. Without letting him in, I went into the kitchen, got one of the bottles and showed it to him – Coca-Cola™, “Hecho en Mexico” stamped on the bottle and sugar instead of HFCS on the list of ingredients. I explained that Coke imported from Mexico still had real sugar and was a better product. He was actually reasonable and left.

The situation is unlikely to arise again because that store no longer carries the Mexicoke and it’s too much trouble to get on the bus to go someplace where I could still get it.

    1. That’s too funny! You’re lucky they didn’t haul you off and grill you under the bright lights! You must not look like much of a drug dealer 🙂
