I drew a rough for this cartoon last Wednesday morning, and then I put it aside as I headed to Washington, D.C. to cover Trump’s THIRD arraignment. I decided to do a different cartoon for my clients. I shelved it again on Thursday and again on Friday. But on Friday, I sent it to CNN along with a few other ideas for consideration. Jane, the editor for that week liked it immediately and asked if we should go ahead and select it for Sunday’s newsletter or if I’d like to send a few more ideas. I was getting on a train to come home and proposed we take an hour to decide and I’d email a few more during my trip home, which was only about an hour long.

I sent three more ideas on the train but she didn’t like any of those more than this one and I agreed with her. This was the best one. It worked out great for me because we had a cartoon selected before I got home. I was able to start drawing the cartoon as soon as I got home which was still pretty early in the afternoon because I had taken the early train. The only thing that prolonged it was an extremely long and very annoying bus ride from the train station to my apartment. I hate people.

But I do like this cartoon.
