Fishy President In Costa Rica

crsta02242017

I drew this cartoon last week for The Costa Rica Star.

Costa Rica president Luis Guillermo Solís taped a request to actress Emma Stone, who’s apparently the hot deal right now. She won an Oscar last Sunday. During this video the prez is playing piano and attempting to entice Stone to visit. She apparently made a comment about which countries she’d like to visit and named Costa Rica as one. That apparently excited the president who thought it should be his top priority instead of stuff like dead animals washing up on his nation’s beaches.

Doesn’t every celebrity eventually vacation in Costa Rica? I know about a dozen people who have visited and several who have current plans. Sadly I’m not one of them. I do hope to check it out at some point.

Did you like this cartoon? Want to help a cartoonist make a living? Look to the right of this page and make a donation through Paypal. I need to buy pens, paper, sandwiches, etc.. The starving cartoonist appreciates it. If you’ve donated in the past, THANK YOU!!!

  1. We went to Costa Rica on a wildlife tour in 2002 and enjoyed it very much– beautiful country. All of the people we met were very nice, but there is one exception. You will hear that Ticos are peaceful people, no military, and they don’t like to fight… but some of them are crazy mad behind the wheel of a car. Our minibus nearly went off a cliff (not a cartoon one) because of some lunatic trying to pass a truck around a curve on a narrow mountain road. I would not rent a car in Costa Rica. Better to have a driver who at least is used to dealing with other crazy people and has practice slamming the brakes and swerving.
