Wake up, kids! It’s time for roughs. I drew all of these last Friday, July 7. I drew 14 that day but you’re only getting 13 of them for now because I put one in the Maybe folder. It’s really mean too.

I liked this one and made it an official cartoon, which some of my clients used. It wasn’t picked for the CNN Opinion newsletter but one of the editors said it was great. For some reason after I published the final version, I didn’t like it as much.

I thought the Warthogs were gonna come out too cute.

I confess… I was struggling when I wrote this idea. Also, cartoonists who are copying and pasting the Twitter logo instead of drawing it, stop that. Why do you want to be a cartoonist if you don’t want to draw?

Sometimes a cartoon surprises you. I knew this cartoon was good but it didn’t knock me over. After publishing the official version, I was surprised by how popular it became on social media. Maybe that’s because so many people love The Godfather.

I was trying to make something work and I couldn’t find it. This is on a path where I couldn’t find the destination. Do you know what a mean? Creative people do.

This is the cartoon that landed in the CNN Opinion newsletter.

I didn’t get all hot-diggity for this one.

I thought this might be a good one for the newsletter, but later hoped they wouldn’t select it because I saw another cartoon on the same subject featuring two bird cages, and it was pretty good too.

I wasn’t crazy about this or its successor below…

…and that’s because it’s too early to say that Threads is going to be trash or the equivalent of Twitter. One thing that annoyed me last week was posts by people trashing Threads…who had not been on it. It annoys me to see people post that they’re not going to use a social media outlet as if they’re too good for it. But, they’re making those posts on a social media outlet. First off, who cares if you’re going to use Threads? Second, you’re not too good for any social media outlet if you’re already on one. The only exception to this is Truth Social. Yes, you are too good for Truth Social.

Another meh. And look, tracing cartoonists… It’s NOT hard to draw the Threads logo. Yes, I actually saw a few cartoons where the brand-new Threads logo was copied and pasted.

After I drew my other two cage cartoons (one for CNN and one for my clients), a bunch of people commented that the key should be lost. That means this was an obvious idea and I’m glad I didn’t draw it.

I was excited to draw this cartoon because I was going to get to draw dinosaurs. Fuck yeah, dinosaurs! Speaking of dinosaurs, I watched 65 last night on Netflix. If you like dinosaurs, spaceships, and Adam Driver, you’ll probably like it. In fact, they should have just called it Spaceships and Dinosaurs.
OK, kids…which of these are your faves? Which one made you say “hot-diggity?”
