Roughs, Volume 185

I did not publish a batch of roughs last week because of my trip to Miami. But I’m home now and it’s time for roughs. This is a collection from two weeks plus one bonus that was in the Maybe folder.

This is from last year and I was saving it for when a report would come out that Trump sold documents. I’m still not convinced that’s not going to happen, but I used half the idea a couple weeks ago, so it’s time to let this one out now. I don’t know exactly how long ago I drew this but it’s number 1846 and the one at the very bottom of this blog is 2556. According to Alexa’s math, I drew 710 roughs between these two. Yes, every rough has a number and I don’t do math.

The next few were drawn on Friday, June 2.

I was trying to put them all in one bed together without exerting myself too much by drawing it.

This was chosen for the CNN newsletter. My editor was Jane that week and I always enjoy working with her.

I didn’t like this.

I really wanted to do this one but my proofreader Laura told me that Mike Luckovich had just done a poker one. I also remembered I had recently used the poker concept fairly recently and forgot about it. So I let this one go.

The rest of these were drawn on Thursday, June 8, and Friday, June 9.

I was still working with Jane at CNN and we both liked this one. I included this and a few others in the blog in my Miami secret sketch diary.

I wasn’t excited with this one.

This was OK.

I did kinda like this one.

I turned this one into an official cartoon while I was on the train to Miami. Actually, it was drawn during the four hours the train was stalled after hitting a car.

And this one became the cartoon for last week’s CNN newsletter.
