Discount Bus Ride

Reblogged from Fredericksburg.com.

One of those discount buses (where you can buy a really cheap ticket to New York City) crashed near Fredericksburg Monday night after that big snowfall.  Nearly 60 people went to the hospital and the driver has been charged with reckless driving.  Thankfully there were no deaths this time.

In May, 2001, a bus for Sky Express, another discount bus company, crashed near the city and four people were killed.  I did a cartoon then on the issue and you can see it here.

  1. I like that this is a topic that doesn’t get the exposure it deserves (I like that you’re bringing it up; not that it doesn’t get exposure…)

In NYC there is a Jitney Bus driver that is coming to trial for speeding and texting while hitting a lamp post that squished a baby in a stroller.

We see buses on the way to Atlantic City spreading teeth hair and eyeballs all across the highway on a regular basis. Why? Because the lost cost providers don’t hire qualified drivers. Why? Because real bus drivers don’t want to live like Ralph Kramden!

And the “black box survives” joke is a good old goody. Nice to see it got some work again (I guess it went freelance!) (I kill me sometimes!)
