Nazis Yay, Gays Nay

cjones05022019

“Woe unto you hypocrites,” Jesus said to the religious leaders of his day. In 2019, his message is for the likes of Franklin Graham, a religious right phony who sees sin in Democrats and not Republicans.

Just like Donald Trump, Franklin Graham inherited his empire from his daddy. He has since used his religious podium to endorse the 2003 invasion of Iraq, refer to Islam as “a very evil and wicked religion,” accuse President Obama of allowing the Muslim Brotherhood to become a part of the U.S. government (seriously), and in 2016, conduct a $10 million campaign that framed support for Hillary Clinton and other Democrats as anti-Christian. And then, he endorsed the porn-star presidential candidate.

Graham preaches a good game but he’s never preached against Trump being a false idol, being worshipped by his followers, or building monuments to himself. Graham has never preached about Trump cheating on his first wife, or his second, or his third. He’s never preached against Trump’s infidelities with porn stars and Playmates. He’s never preached against Trump’s attacks against women. He’s never preached against Trump lusting after his own daughter. And, Graham has never preached against Trump’s lies.

With The Washington Post now confirming that Trump has passed the 10,000 lies mark, Graham says Trump merely misspeaks and never has intentions to be dishonest.

Graham has no problems with Trump being a racist, bully, misogynist, braggart, or a guy who proudly boasts of sexually assaulting women and barging into dressing rooms to see teenage girls while they’re naked.

Graham backed Trump’s Muslim ban and says God had a hand in his election.

Graham believes Melania Trump is the “classiest First Lady in American history.” Apparently, running an anti-bullying campaign while ignoring her husband’s bullying is classy. plagiarizing her predecessor’s speeches is classy. Marrying a guy solely because he’s rich is classy. Doing nude lesbian porn must be classy as hell in Graham’s eyes.

And back to Donald, Graham has never preached against defending Nazis. And let’s get this straight right now: Donald Trump defended Nazis.

There’s this campaign that Trump was talking about the “fine people” who were merely at Charlottesville to protest the removal of Confederate statues. Yes, fine people who demanded that statues honoring slave-owning traitors to the United States must remain in place. Trump supporters tell us to look at the context of his words when he said there were “fine people on both sides.” OK. Let’s look at his words.

In defending his statement afterward, he said, “As I said on — remember, Saturday — we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. It has no place in America.” He also called the murderer of Heather Heyer a “murderer.” Kudos, Trump. But then, he flipped it back to defending the “Blood and Soil” tiki-torch guys.

When asked about the “alt-right,” Trump deflected criticism of them and attacked the counter-protesters with, “Okay, what about the alt-left that came charging at — excuse me, what about the alt-left that came charging at the, as you say, the alt-right? Do they have any semblance of guilt?”

He continued with, “What about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs?” Trump’s primary criticisms remained on the left when he brought up permits to protest. He said, “you had a group on the other side that came charging in, without a permit, and they were very, very violent.”

OK. So he’s defending the guys with permits. Who got that permit? Jason Kessler got that permit. Mr. Kessler is a white supremacist and a supporter of Neo-Nazis. In defending the guys with permits, Trump defended Nazis.

In defending the people who were protesting the removal of statues, Trump said there were “fine people on both sides.” Who was on the side with the statue dudes? Who was in Charlottesville that day?

Here’s a partial list. The Daily Stormer Book Club, The National Front, The Right Stuff, The National Policy Institute, the neo-Confederate League of the South, Traditionalist Worker Party (Nazis), Vanguard America, National Socialist Movement (they’re Nazis, not AOC fans), the Ku Klux Klan, the Fraternal Order of Alt-Knights, Identity Evropa (more Nazis), Rise Above Movement, the American Guard, the Detroit Right Wings (Nazis stealing their name from Detroit’s hockey team), True Cascadia, Alt-Right Montreal (Canadian Nazis), Hammer Brothers, Anti-Communist Action (more Nazis), David Duke (former Grand Wizard and Nazi lover), and Richard Spencer (Nazi). These are all hate groups. You can decide how “fine” a person is who chooses to march with these people.

Airbnb refused to rent to these people because they’re not “fine.” You can’t blame Airbnb, because they’re Nazis and they’ll steal all the white sheets and pillow cases and cut eye holes in them. But, Trump disagrees with Airbnb and thinks they’re fine people.

Personally, I’m against kicking puppies. But, if I see a bunch of Nazis with tiki torches walking down the street chanting, “Stop kicking puppies and Jews will not replace us,” I’m not going to join in. I can be against kicking puppies and still not march with Nazis. You don’t have to join Nazis to oppose statue removal. When you walk with Nazis, you may as well be a Nazi.

Donald Trump defended Nazis. Nazis! Nazis! Nazis! Deflecting for Nazis is the same as defending them. And defending Nazis is not something Franklin Graham has a problem with. But maybe, he’d hate gay Nazis.

Graham has a huge issue with gay people. He’s a champion of gay-conversion therapy, just like Mike Pence. He praised Vladimir Putin for Russia’s “gay propaganda law,” which bans anything that makes homosexuality appear acceptable. And last week, he went after South Bend, Indiana mayor and first opening gay Democratic presidential candidate for being gay and married.

Graham tweeted, “”Mayor Buttigieg says he’s a gay Christian. As a Christian I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized. The Bible says marriage is between a man & a woman—not two men, not two women.”

Actually, the Bible doesn’t say homosexuality is a sin. It talks about behavior but doesn’t reference being gay. It talks a lot about a man being with a woman and becoming one, but it doesn’t mention marriage. Don’t believe me? Look it up. I’m no Bible preacher so you’d think a Jesus freak like Graham would have a better grasp of the Bible than an agnostic political cartoonist (I did spend a year at a Baptist private school in Georgia. Hallelujah!).

Graham has never asked Trump to repent that I know of. While worried that Buttigieg is flaunting and politicizing his sexual orientation, he doesn’t have a problem with anything Trump flaunts.

Graham is a hypocrite and quite frankly, his relationship with Trump is unnatural and it kinda freaks me out.

Peter On Pence

cjones04212019

Mike Pence was upset. He said Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana and promising presidential candidate had attacked his religion and accused him of discrimination. Pence said, “He said some things that are critical of my Christian faith and about me personally.” Actually, he didn’t attack Pence’s faith. Pence is doing what old, white, conservative men do best and that is pretend to be victimized.

Mayor Pete said, “That’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand. If you got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.” The closest he came to criticizing Pence’s faith was when he wondered out loud when the pious veep stopped “believing in scripture when he started believing Donald Trump.” He also asked, “How would he allow himself to become the cheerleader for the porn star presidency?”

Surprising no one, Pence didn’t answer those questions. Pence is like all Republicans now. They spent decades fashioning themselves as being closer to God than Democrats only to turn around and get into bed with a man who never goes to church, says “Two Corinthians,” and pays hush money to porn stars. There’s also that constant lying and attacking people thing. Republicans spent years telling us they are the party of family values. As it turns out, they were lying.

In response to Buttigieg’s criticism, Pence defended himself by saying, “I don’t believe in discrimination against anybody.” Oh really?

As governor of Indiana, Pence fought to prevent same-sex couples from obtaining equal parenting rights, supported a measure to ban same-sex marriage in the state, and signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which allowed business owners to refuse service to LGBTQ customers. He’s just as homophobic as vice president as he was as governor. In January, Pence defended his wife’s decision to take a job teaching at a school that bars LGBTQ students and faculty and said people who criticized that were “offensive.”

Additionally, Mike Pence once supported federal funding for gay conversion therapy, which is designed to change “sexual behavior.” No word yet where he stands on Trump-sycophant conversion therapy, but maybe he was just born that way.

Mike Pence is a champion of discrimination. He is almost as good at discrimination as he is at kissing Trump’s ass.

Also, take note that Pence hasn’t criticized the homophobic hecklers who have been following Buttigieg from rally to rally.

Mike Pence’s faith in God may be solid as a rock. His faith in everything else, along with his principles and dignity are for sale.

Exciting Hater Franchising Opportunities

cjones04092019

You don’t hear a lot of news out of the nation of Brunei. Your average schmoe probably forgets it exists, if he even knew it in the first place.

Brunei is tiny and on the other side of the world. The population is only 430,000 people, which is fewer than the number living in Miami or Virginia Beach. Brunei actually owns a cattle farm in Australia that’s larger than Brunei.

Brunei is on the north coast of the island of Borneo, which is also occupied by portions of Malaysia and Indonesia. It’s classified as a developed country and has the second highest Human Development Index among southeast Asian nations after Singapore. Wealthy from oil production, it’s ranked fifth in the world by gross domestic product per capita and is only one of two nations with public debt at zero percent of the national GDP. It’s an absolute monarchy ruled by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who is also the prime minister. One of the richest men in the world, the Sultan is said to own the world’s largest home and the biggest collection of rare cars. This economic, industrialized powerhouse is governed by Sharia Law and starting this week, the punishment for gay sex between men is death by stoning.

Sharia is Islamic law based on the Quran and other writings, though interpretations can vary widely. A statement from the Sultan’s office says, “Sharia, apart from criminalizing and deterring acts that are against the teachings of Islam. also aims to educate, respect and protect the legitimate rights of all individuals, society or nationality of any faiths and race.” I guess under Brunei’s Sharia Law, sexual orientation isn’t a “legitimate” right.

Brunei hasn’t executed anyone since 1957, but they’re pretty excited by the stoning idea. It will also apply as punishment for extramarital sex, anal sex, abortion, rape and some forms of blasphemy or heresy, like ridiculing the Quran or insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Theft and some other crimes will be punished merely by chopping off hands and feet. While dude-on-dude sex is death by stoning, lesbian sex will “only” be punished with 40 lashes.

Celebrities like George Clooney, Elton John, and Ellen DeGeneres have called for a boycott of luxury hotels owned by Brunei, which includes the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, and the Dorchester in London. There are also calls to boycott Shell as they’re in the oil production business with Brunei. Maybe Brunei can look for foreign investment elsewhere.

Chick-fil-A was denied from operating in airports this week in Buffalo and San Antonio over their anti-LGBTQ positions and support for hate groups. Conservatives are calling this religious discrimination, ignoring that Chick-fil-A has donated millions to groups that discriminate against gays and lesbians, such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and the Salvation Army, which it says “spread an anti-LGBTQ message,” and teach that homosexuality is a sin.  It’s also given to Exodus International, which supports gay conversion therapy, and the Family Research Council, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has classified as a hate group. Conservatives argue that the SPLC’s hate group ratings can’t be trusted because they’re biased against hate groups.

Chick-fil-A’s president and CEO Dan Cathy stated on a radio show in 2012, “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.’ I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”

Do you know where else they’re worried about God’s judgment on their nation? Brunei. With Buffalo and San Antonio not working out for the homophobic chicken people, perhaps they could tempt the Sultan with some new and exciting franchising opportunities.

Trump Tramples Trans

cjones02232017

Donald Trump has rescinded the Obama administration’s rules on bathrooms for transgender students. He wants the decisions on how to handle school bathrooms for transgenders students left up to the states. And why not? We saw how several states worked on civil rights issues back in the 1950s and 60s when they thought it was best left up to them. What could go wrong now?

We’re not deciding speed limits here. These are children. This is a civil rights issue which is an area for the federal government. Not North Carolina, or Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, etc.

The decision was passed down by the departments of Justice and Education. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, living up to the fear that he wouldn’t defend civil rights (first he’d have to know what they are), was all for it. Education secretary Betsy DeVos was not in favor of the new rules. She was told to get in line. Exhibiting the backbone required to serve in the Trump administration, DeVos ate the meatloaf.

The safety and security of children should be more important than appeasing the fear of geriatric politicians.

Moment Of Silence

cjones06152016

I don’t really believe there’s a man in the sky who controls everything and all is predetermined. I don’t have faith. But when someone says “God bless you” or says they’ll pray for me, I appreciate the sentiment. I don’t really expect them to work.

Prayers don’t work but it’s nice if you believe they do. If God has his mind made up then what’s a prayer going to do? Change his mind? He’ll decide against that typhoon wiping out Fiji? I know there are people out there who will swear they prayed for something and it totally worked, like they prayed and now their herpes only shows up once a month. It’s a miracle!

Praying is often used to give the impression that you’re doing something, when you’re actually not doing anything. It’s a favorite of our do-nothing Congress. Congress hasn’t done a damn thing about anything over the past six years, and they’ve especially ignored the issue of gun control.

Congress won’t even fund studying gun control, or the impact of guns on society. I’m surprised they watch the news to know when there’s another mass shooting, thus informing them it’s time to pray again. They’re content taking money from the NRA to ignore the sales of AR-15s. They forget we’re paying them too. Quite frankly, anyone attempting to purchase an AR-15 or AK-47 should be deemed too unstable to purchase a gun.

They’re really good at scapegoating and dehumanizing homosexuals and then praying for them after a gay nightclub is shot up.

Hey, Congress. Thanks for nothing.

Are you curious on my take of Trump’s statements on the shootings? Come back tomorrow. I have something to say about it.

Orlando Tragedy

cjones06142016

Am I politicizing this?

The United States suffered the worst mass shooting in its history this past weekend. A shooter walked into a gay nightclub and started shooting people. At this point 50 are dead and over 50 are wounded.

The shooter claims he’s affiliated with ISIS. He has a history of homophobia and anger issues. Is it really important he’s citing ISIS and the Boston Marathon Bombers as inspiration?

It’s not about Islam or “radical” Islam. It’s about people being radical. Conservatives love to point out that Islam calls for the death of homosexuals. So does Christianity. Most Muslim governments that are theocracies ban homosexuality which is evidence that we don’t want to tie our government to Christianity or any religion. It’s bizarre that those who hate gays want us to focus on other groups who hate gays.

These conservatives aren’t asking how the shooter acquired his weapons. They’re more concerned with people referring to the AR-15 used as an “assault weapon.” Seriously, they have more sensitivity toward the weapon than to the victims.

Conservatives love to politicize people and use them to advance their agenda. They scapegoat. They create a climate of hate and fear where none previously existed. They do it out of hate hate and to distract from other issues. They scream about bathrooms being unsafe from trangenders though all the raping and pedophilia being done out there is by heterosexuals, and usually by very conservative and religious people. It’s always a great time to politicize someone until their politicizing feeds a tragedy. When the tragedy strikes they offer prayers to those they have been tarnishing, degrading, and dehumanizing.

Am I politicizing this? I could have gone with a memorial cartoon. In fact, the cartoonist who I most admire has already published a cartoon with tears for Orlando. When I’m angry, annoyed, and really pissed off, sentimentality doesn’t come easy to me. I’m not a chicken-soup-for-the-soul type of person.

Am I politicizing this? You bet your homophobic ass I am.

North Carolina Educated

cjones05102016

I believe in this time of such turmoil over transgenders in North Carolina’s public restrooms we should all heed the words of North Carolinian Petey Pablo who sang “North Carolina! C’mon and raise up. Take your shirt off, twist it ’round yo head. Spin it like a helicopter.”

Actually, that doesn’t have anything to do with this. I’m just screwing with you.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave North Carolina a Monday deadline to promise not to enforce their discrimination law that targets transgenders use of public restrooms. The state asked for more time and Lynch offered a week if they would admit the law was discriminatory. The the state said no and promptly sued. The federal government is counter suing.

The Justice department claims the law violates the Civil Rights Act and that it is “state-sanctioned discrimination” against transgender people.

Pat McCrory, governor of North Carolina, said he has a different interpretation of federal law than the federal government. OK, then. See you in court. It’s going to be very expensive.

The Obama administration is threatening to pull education funding from the state which comes to $4.3 billion. The governor, who is backing a law bullying transgenders, says the feds are being bullies. Go figure.

Lynch, who like Petey, is from North Carolina said states should not be in the business of “legislating identity” and force transgender people to not be who they are. She compared this fight to others over civil rights and human dignity. So many have forgotten the battles over the Jim Crow laws that came after the Emancipation Proclamation; the widespread resistance to implement the 1954 Supreme Court ruling that found segregated schools unconstitutional; and the state laws that prevented same-sex couples from marrying in much of the country until last year. The people who fought for change were on the right side of history. The people supporting this very stupid, idiotic, law in North Carolina are on the wrong side.

When people support legislation today that promotes discrimination and hatred, they show which side of the line they would have stood during the 1960’s.

Loretty Lynch laid down the law Monday with grace, class, and dignity, something the Republican leaders in North Carolina seriously lack. Do you remember when Republicans were ecstatic over Eric Holder leaving the Department of Justice?

They should just toss this law and spin it around their heads like a helicopter.
