  1. Living in a very red area of PA, I still hear women (and men, of course) complaining about how they do not like Kamala Harris because of the way she laughs and how she failed as the “border czar”. Yet I read about how the whole “border czar” thing was a label that Repubs gave her which was debunked by fact checkers. Also, what’s wrong with a woman laughing? Has anyone ever heard Trump laugh? Has he ever laughed at a joke because I cannot remember any instances of such?

    1. The entirety of the Trumpublican accusation of “Open Borders” is a fibrication of the GOP.

The only consistant proclaimation that the border is open has come from the Right.

And when a bipartisan deal was made to fix many of the border and immigration problems the head of the Trumpublican party made sure that the deal died on the vine.

  2. Anybody against DEI (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) is, by definition, a White Male Supremacist who believes that only white males should hold down jobs, or at least “good jobs”.

Just like anyone against “woke” is all for remaining asleep at the wheel as we head towards oblivion.

    1. Johnec, I know women that also scream about DEI hires a lot, too. It’s always shocking to me that they spout that crap, but they do. It takes all kinds to make up this world.

      1. I would hold that it’s entirely possible to be a White Male Supremacist while also at the same time being female, even a female of color.

A White Male Supremacist merely believes that White Males should control all power and money, have all the (good) jobs and political leaders.

I will not be following you on Substack.

  5. “DEI hire” is just the new version of the N-word.

While “DEI” actually stands for “diversity, equity and inclusion” and just means ensuring that everyone gets a fair shot at equality of OPPORTUNITY (not outcomes) — the chance to compete on a level playing field — a meaning of “DEI” that would be more appropriate to the context of the bigoted, hateful elitism of those who really do get ahead based on their gender and skin color — white males born to wealth and privilege — would be that they “DIDN’T EARN IT.”

No one gets more unearned legacy advantage — the  “affirmative action” of the rich — than white, elite Republican males.

Certainly none more than Donald Trump who would be nothing if he hadn’t had a rich father, or the Koch brothers, Walton heirs, Mercer heirs, Mitt R-money, DeVos family, Bush family. Even JFK or John Kerry — excellent public servants — rose to prominence because they came from great wealth — the Old Money of prominent New England families. And how far would Elon Musk have gotten without the wealth from his father’s emerald mines — wealth extracted by the black hands of virtually enslaved workers in the age of South African apartheid?

Kamala Harris never had a damn thing handed to her in her life. No woman of color ever has. She came from black and brown immigrant parents who came with nothing. She rose from a local District Attorney, to Attorney General of the largest state in the Union, to U.S. Senator famous for tough grilling of Trump’s Supreme Court and cabinet nominees and then Vice President based on a record of real achievement, great smarts and real ability.

Kamala Harris does her homework, comes prepared, prosecutes the case and, yes, she can still laugh, dance, and find joy in public service.

    1. I have lived all of my 70+ years in California and I have voted in every primary, general or special election that ever came along. My wife and I have voted for Kamala Harris in every primary or general election she has ever run in for statewide office (2x primary and general for Attorney General and then primary and general for U.S. Senate), plus as Joe Biden’s running mate.

As District Attorney, she prosecuted cases against those accused of sexual assault and business fraud. As state Attorney General, she shut down the largest chain of for-profit fraudulent universities in the nation. After the 2008 Bush financial meltdown and recession, when numerous state Attorneys General came together to prosecute those guilty of financial fraud and came to a tentative settlement, it was KAMALA HARRIS who blocked the deal and held out for one that was much more consumer friendly.

My niece — as a consumer protection attorney — worked in the consumer protection division of Kamala’s Department of Justice and saw first-hand how vigorously she fought for consumer rights, which also earned her the vigorous endorsement and support of consumer champion Elizabeth Warren.

      1. Same, DDWiz. I spent my first 59 years in California, and have always admired Kamala Harris. We moved to Washington state seven years ago.

Also, I took a peek at your profile, and you are from one of my hometowns. (Born and raised in CA, I’ve lived in a lot of different hometowns over the years, LOL!) My parents and a brother still live in your area.
