Swifty Naked Waffle Shooter

cjones04292018

A naked guy shoots up a Tennessee Waffle House with an AR-15 while claiming Taylor Swift is stalking him. The nation was less surprised by these details as much as they were that the incident didn’t take place in Florida.

The naked gunman using the gun of choice for mass shooters was stopped by an unarmed man, which debunks the NRA/GOP talking point, “only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun.”

James Shaw Jr. didn’t just stop a killer with his bare hands.  He created a fundraiser that’s already raised at least $130,000 for the families of the four victims of the shooting. That’s enough money to pay a porn star to keep quiet about Trump.

Speaking of Trump, he has not tweeted about this shooting. Probably because the killer wasn’t a Muslim (white guy) and the man who unarmed him is black.

Mostly, I’m surprised he hasn’t tweeted an attack on Taylor Swift. He does love to feud with celebrities, and Taylor is the most powerful person in pop music right now.

I find that sad because I’d love to hear the ditty T-Swifty would write for Trump.

Creative notes: This is a bonus cartoon for today. I started it this morning and stopped/paused after I got my Trump/Macron/Monkey idea. I had to draw the monkey first. I just had to.

March For Our Lives

cjones03262018

Over 500,000 people, mostly high school students, are expected to march on the Capitol today, and in over 800 other locations around the world to protest gun violence.

This movement began after the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida after a former student killed 17 with an AR-15 assault rifle. It’s led by students who are scaring the daylights out of the NRA and Republicans in Congress, state legislatures, and governors’ mansions. Donald Trump and the majority of Republicans in Congress have made sure they’ll be out of town during tomorrow’s march.

Since Republicans and gun nuts can’t counter the students’ campaign with logic or facts, they’ve taken attempts to delegitimize the students. They’ve accused them of being actors who are being manipulated by Democrats. Some say they should focus on their school work and not discuss topics that are best left to adults. Basically, they’re arguing that students shouldn’t express an opinion after surviving an assault by a shooter who acquired his weapon with support by the NRA.

After every shooting, we’re told it’s too soon to talk about gun control. Not this time. We’re talking about it and we’re not going to stop. Republicans and the NRA can’t wash the blood off their hands, continue to collect blood money, and hope to be reelected time and time again.

This is a march to save lives. It’s a march saying “enough is enough” and “never again.”

Trump may be in Florida on a golf course Saturday sweating what Stormy Daniels is going to say on 60 Minutes Sunday night, but hopefully, he’ll hear the students all the way from Washington, D.C. The rest of the GOP and the NRA will hear them too.

Here’s the video.

Love Mass Shootings

cjones02252018

Donald Trump said the National Rifle Association is full of good people, which puts them in exclusive company because that’s the same thing he said about Nazis. Congrats, NRA.

If you watched just a few seconds of the speeches by NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre and spokesgoon Dana Loesch, you’ll see why they might belong in the same company.

Wayne LaPierre said gun control advocates hate freedom. Loesch said the “legacy media” loves mass shootings and “crying white mothers” are ratings gold. Donald Trump said we should have a rating system for violent video games and movies, which we’ve had since 1968. Maybe the president should focus on issues occurring during this century.

Trump said the NRA is willing to work with gun advocates for gun safety. I watched some of the CPAC speeches and I didn’t detect any willingness on their part to work on actual gun safety. Instead, there was the repeated dumb solution of introducing more guns to combat the gun problem. Trump also repeated the NRA’s talking points.

The NRA tossed around a lot of blame for mass shootings. They blamed Obama, liberals, the Democratic Party, Salon, Slate, The Washington Post, The New York Times, CNN, Chris Murphy, Nancy Pelosi, the Internal Revenue Service, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Chuck Schumer, the FBI, the socialist agenda, liberal college campuses, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, Mexico, China, Europeans, elites, intellectuals, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, NFL players, Loretta Lynch, Hillary Clinton, and James Comey. It was like a game of hate bingo.

That is not a complete list, but do you see one item missing? Guns. Specifically, assault weapons. The NRA is not willing to work with anyone on gun safety if they can’t acknowledge the fact that assault weapons are the root cause of the problem.

When someone walks into a room with a gun, you don’t think “hey, an insane gun.” Your first thought is, “that guy has a gun.” It’s the guns, people. Sure, there are other contributors, but it starts with the guns.

The NRA only cares about the bottom line for gun sales. In fact, each time there’s a mass shooting, gun sales go up.

Assault weapons are not necessary for home protection. If you need an assault weapon to hit your target, you shouldn’t own a gun. But, I’m not proposing an outright ban on assault rifles. People should still be allowed to own them. They just shouldn’t be allowed to take them home. We need a law that requires assault weapons, such as the AR15, to remain at rifle ranges. That way you haven’t lost your right to own anything. You still own it. You can go to the range and bear that thing all day long, or up until closing time.

Banning bump stocks and raising the age to purchase an assault rifle to 21 is a good start, but it’s not enough. Nobody needs to shoot 30 rounds in a minute to protect their home. You still have regular rifles, shotguns, and pistols. If you’re really good with guns, you’ll only need one bullet.

The lives of children are more important than some warped interpretation of the Second Amendment. The lives of children are more important than the testosterone rush of holding a big gun.

You can still buy T-shirts that say “I have a big penis.”

NRA American Made

cjones01292018

You may have missed this story from last week as it was overshadowed by a government shutdown, shitholes, Davos, The Women’s March, DACA, Tide Pods, Republican conspiracy theories, and Trump’s weekly attempt to obstruct justice and slime his way through the presidency. But, what may have transpired while Trump was sliming his way toward the presidency is that Russians helped him through the National Rifle Association.

We know Russia helped elect Donald Trump. That’s a fact. We also know there was collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign, no matter how many times Trump says “no collusion,” which has become how he starts and finishes every statement he’ll ever make for the rest of his life. Inviting Russians to Trump Tower to provide dirt on Hillary Clinton and trading messages with Wikileaks is the very definition of collusion. It also hasn’t helped that Trump has spent his entire presidency groveling to Vladimir Putin as if the guy has something on him as if they were in a “Stormy” relationship.

During the campaign, Trump made a visit to the National Rifle Association’s convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Most people go to Kentucky for horse racing and bourbon. Trump went to meet porn stars. Oops, that’s Vegas. Trump went to meet Russians. Yes, at the NRA convention, Trump met up with Aleksandr Torshin, a good buddy of Vladimir’s, a mobster, and deputy director of the Russian central bank. Why would a Russian mobster fly to Kentucky to visit Donald Trump?

On a side note, last week’s school shooting happened in Kentucky.

Besides meeting up with Russian mobster pals of Putin’s in Kentucky at an NRA convention, Russia may have used the Republican’s favorite fundraising organization to funnel money to the Trump campaign. There are several connections between Russia and the NRA (click the link above).

Trump supporters have made a lot of sacrifices to back their guy. They’ve given up their dignity. Evangelicals have given up the right to preach, bitch, scream and pretend family values and morals are important to them. Republicans can’t pretend they’re more patriotic than Democrats as they’re closing their eyes and allowing Russia to attack our nation. They also can’t pretend they care about law enforcement since they’re spending all their leisure time attacking the FBI for investigating that Russian collusion thing. They can’t even criticize future Democratic presidents in the future for vacationing and golfing too much.

Before Trump even became president, the GOP lost the argument that they’re the pro-life party and care about children as they’ve stood by and watched school shooting after school shooting kill American children. They’ve haven’t been entirely inactive on the issue, as they continue to take money from the biggest proponent of no-gun legislation ever, the NRA.

Now, the party that has refused to defend our nation from Russia, refused to defend our children from gun violence and has refused to defend us from stupidity, gets to help the champions of the Second Amendment, the NRA, wash Putin stank of them.

Does the GOP really advocate protection for anyone in this nation? Can someone please tell me what it is the Republican Party is doing for the United States other than helping rich people get richer?
