Wrong Protest

The protests in China are mostly against strict lockdowns due to Covid. These lockdowns are not the same as the “lockdowns” we had in the United States. The lockdowns in China led to people being burned alive inside a building because they were literally locked in.

Sure, we had “lockdowns” in schools, churches, and businesses being closed, but nobody was literally locked in. There were limitations placed on businesses, but most were not ordered not to do business or engage in commerce. In the U.S., 43 percent of businesses closed temporarily.

Complaining and protesting that you can’t do business is legitimate. You have a gripe. It sucked. None of us liked it and it’s not something we wanted to keep. Democrats did not want to keep the economy shut down and if you remember correctly, outside of being gaslighted, all the shutdowns started while Donald Trump was president (sic).

Most of us support the protests in China. Most of us support freedom. Republicans say they do, but they don’t. Republicans support Trump, Putin, and fascism. Several Republicans are tweeting out support for the protesters in China not because they’re protesting for freedom, but because Republicans think it’s a stick in the eye to the people in the USA who believe in science. At the same time, they’re silent over their presidential frontrunner “truthing” that we need to ditch the Constitution and install him as president.

Republicans protest and gripe about the economy being shut down, but they also protest against face masks and vaccines. Remember, at the start of Covid, they said, You can wear a face mask but don’t make wear them”. Now, they scream at people for wearing face masks even though it doesn’t affect them at all. My profile photos on Instagram and Truth Social are of me wearing a face mask, and goons are constantly commenting insults about that. I even got a “Let’s go Brandon” on a city bus. And their protests against the vaccines are based on conspiracy theories.

They’re not protesting vaccines or face masks in China. If you look at photos of the protests, you’ll notice that the majority of protesters are wearing face masks. Unlike Republicans, they don’t deny that Covid exists or is still a danger.

If you want to support the protesters in China, great. But at least understand what it’s about. It’s not about your political bullshit or conspiracy theories. In China, they’re protesting against oppression. If you’re a white Republican, nobody has oppressed you. You’re just a big pampered privileged baby.

Alito’s Permission

The decision about to be handed down by the Supreme Court allowing states to outright ban abortion is a sexist one made mostly by men. These men have made up their minds about what a woman can or can’t do with their bodies. They’re not legislating what men can or can’t do with their bodies. Four of the five justices in the majority on this are Catholics. While 23 percent of the nation identifies as Catholic, six out nine of the current Supreme Court justices practice Catholicism.

Conservatives will point out that one of the justices voting to ban abortion is a woman. Yes, Amy Coney Barrett is a woman and one of the Catholics on the bench. But, she’s not just a Catholic. She’s also a member of People of Praise, a network of ecumenical intentional communities. What the hell is an intentional community? Think of it like a commune where everyone works toward the same goals, but spread out across the nation…and fanatical. It’s a cult. Many members do live together and seek advice/permission from leadership on everything from their household budget to whom they should marry. Members agree to submit to the leadership of a spiritual director and affirm a 181-word “covenant” that they frequently recite together. “We will serve one another and the community as a whole in all needs: spiritual, material, financial,” it reads in part. One former member of the cult said “The social scene was extremely Republican, very much Rush Limbaugh.” Nice.

For a story about the “covenant,” The New York Times attempted to interview current members of the group who didn’t respond to requests for interviews or declined to speak, citing concerns about privacy. Isn’t it special that the cult Amy Coney Barrett is a member of is concerned about PRIVACY? No, wait. They’re only concerned about the cult’s privacy.

In People of Praise, women are encouraged to work and have careers, but also to be subservient to men in a Christian tradition. Women can not hold leadership positions in the cult except as “woman leaders,” which is a position that teaches other women about their roles in the cult. Until 2017, “woman leader” was called “handmaiden.” They changed it after a TV adaptation of “A Handmaid’s Tale” gave the term a negative impression kinda in the same way Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, and Republicans eschew the term “Nazi.”

In the directory for one of the cult’s divisions in South Bend, Indiana, Amy Coney Barrett is listed as a “handmaid.” Maybe they just don’t use the term “handmaid” in public.

People are comparing this abortion ban to “A Handmaid’s Tale.” Meanwhile, we literally have a Supreme Court justice who identifies as a handmaiden. I find it incredulous that Amy Coney Barrett will ever cast a vote that would get her kicked out of this cult she’s been a member of since birth. A religious cult has a vote on the Supreme Court.

A document from the group titled “Men and Women in the People of Praise” says in one part that being the head of the household does not give a husband a license to dominate, but a wife “should take her husband’s direction seriously.” A husband’s responsibilities include “correcting” his wife should she stray from the proper path.

Of course, one of the Catholics on the court is Samuel Alito, who is writing the majority opinion banning abortions, arguing the word “abortion” is not in the Constitution. Based on that logic, everything that’s not mentioned in the Constitution from cars to airplanes to movie theaters to birth control to gay marriage to pop rocks are unconstitutional. Alito is “correcting” the Constitution and ordering the women in this nation not to stray from the proper path.

I wonder if People of Praise are as opposed to pop rocks as much as they are against gay marriage. Yes, Amy Coney Barrett believes gay marriage is a sin. Are sins constitutional? In fact, children of same-sex marriages are not allowed into the cult’s private schools. Is that sort of discrimination constitutional?

My point here is, we’re in trouble. While this decision wasn’t voted on entirely by men, you gotta take into account that the one woman voting to destroy abortion rights for women is in a male-dominated fundamentalist religious cult.

Creative note: I sketched out nine cartoons on the abortion case Thursday. And, I actually like most of them. I showed them all to Laura, one of my copy editors, and she said I should do a series and draw each one. I don’t think so but you will eventually see each of them.

Republican Targets

Republicans are only outraged at Vladimir Putin now because they’re supposed to be. If the public was indifferent to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Republicans would either be silent about it or siding with Russia the way Tucker Carlson has. Even Donald Trump has seen it’s better to be silent on the war than siding with Putin after he called the guy a genius. It’s really hard to build support when you’re bombing baby hospitals and kindergartens.

And while there is support for Russia on the far right, there’s also support for Russia coming from the lunatic fringe that’s the far left. You have to wonder if the same signature is on both, Tucker Carlson’s and Ted Rall’s checks. Both of these individuals have a pro-Russia, anti-USA following they’re pushing Putin’s propaganda to.

The far-left uses the false equivalence of the United States’ invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan to claim we have no right to criticize Russia’s invasion. But those comparisons are almost as bad as the comparisons of prices of gas to coffee. You have a choice with coffee and you’re not consuming gallons of it a day, so stop with those moronic comparisons. And stop with the war comparisons.

The far-left lunatics forget that liberals were opposed to the war in Iraq. Liberals, not the leftists, are consistent. And while I personally protested the war in Iraq, I don’t see it as the same as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. For starters, Ukraine is a democracy led by a democratically-elected president. Saddam Hussein was no Volodymyr Zelensky. And while the invasion of Iraq was illegal and based on lies, the United States had multiple partners. Putin only has Belarus which is another fascist nation. I supported our removing the Taliban and al Qaeda while not in favor of remaining in that nation for two decades. The war in Afghanistan was a NATO effort after the United States was attacked by terrorists that nation was harboring. We were attacked from Afghanistan. But even if you believe all three wars are identical, then why denounce two while supporting one? Why support Putin’s unprovoked attack on a democratic nation?

Also, a lot of Americans who initially supported the invasion of Iraq did so based on the lies they were told. Now if you’re supporting Putin, now you’re the liar. The Tuckers and Teds are repeating Putin’s lies. You hear “Nazi” a lot, but I bet there weren’t a lot of Nazis in that kindergarten or baby hospital he bombed this week.

But let’s get back to the Republicans. If they could, they’d make this war as partisan as they made the coronavirus pandemic. to them, support for Ukraine would be the same as supporting social distancing and face mask and vaccine mandates. They’d be crying about forcing kids to wear face masks to school while being silent about Ukrainian elementary schools being bombed. They’d all be like Ron DeSantis, who believe the worst thing in a school isn’t a Russian bomb, but the word “gay”. If they could, they’d ignore Putin’s attack on Ukraine’s democracy just like they ignored Putin’s attack on American democracy.

Oh, sure. They’re all outraged at Putin’s war crimes on Ukraine now, but they were fine with his crimes against the United States when they made gains off them. They were fine with Putin handing them the White House. They were fine with Putin’s puppet giving billionaires tax breaks. They were more than happy to make a cult leader out of the orange racist stooge Putin put in the Oval Office. And they were jubilant with the Supreme Court picks Vladimir Putin gave them.

Fact: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett would NOT be on the Supreme Court today, and for the next 30 years, if it wasn’t for Vladimir Putin. I am a radical because I believe every sitting federal judge who was nominated by Vladimir Putin, through his conduit Donald Trump, should step down.

The GOP acknowledges Putin is a bad guy today, but they were silent over the past half-decade when he was giving them shit. They were as silent about his attacks on the United States of America as they were each time an abortion clinic was attacked.

In November 2015, a deranged lunatic opened fire on a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs. He killed three people and injured nine others. He attacked the clinic based upon right-wing lies that Planned Parenthood was harvesting baby body parts for profit. These lies were created by a conservative outlet that produced heavily manipulated videos to push their anti-choice agenda. This outlet is still in operation today. The GOP repeated these lies. They supported the actions that led to the attack.

A few months later, the 2016 presidential campaign began and none of the 16 (probably more) Republican candidates wanted to talk about the shooting. The entire Republican Party brushed it off despite having blood on its hands.

What would Republicans be saying if instead of Putin bombing a maternity hospital, he had bombed a Kyiv women’s clinic? Would they be silent or would they cheer? The only thing I’m certain of is that they wouldn’t condemn it.

What would they do? With the way Vladimir Putin is conducting his war and hitting civilian targets, we may find out.

Republicans who are just now opposing Vladimir Putin are a little too late for me.

Update on yesterday’s cartoon: I thought I would have been suspended on several social media platforms for yesterday’s cartoon by now, and maybe I still will. But, I haven’t been hit yet. It has now occurred to me, which is disturbing, that maybe the word in the cartoon isn’t a bad word to them. That’s messed up. I have been suspended for a lot less. Hell, I lost my first Instagram account for comparing anti-gay laws in Brunei, which gave the death sentence to LGBTQ people, to Chick-fil-A.

Turkeys For Rittenhouse

CjonesRGB11252021

Thanks to the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial where he got off on all four charges that involved killing two people and wounding one, in addition to having two other charges thrown out, it’s now right-wing white nationalist hunting season on anti-racism protesters.

The law-and-order party is championing vigilantism to run rampant throughout the nation. They’re championing minors to patrol streets with automatic weapons they can’t own legally. They’re championing minor vigilantes lying about their age and their medical credentials. They’re championing minors taking AR-15s to clean graffiti and give medical attention.

The law-and-order party is praising that a minor with an assault rifle killed a registered sex offender. Basically, the law-and-order party is saying, “Fuck trials, fuck the trials that already sentenced the guy, fuck his probation, and fuck whether or not you know he’s a pedophile.” Oh, yeah. Funny thing. It doesn’t matter if one of Kyle’s victims was a pedophile or a Catholic priest. Shit. Bad example. Anyway, Kyle, the slapper of teenage girls, is the gunhumpers’ champion against pedophilia. By the way, most of these people excited over Kyle killing a pedophile are silent over pedophiles in the Catholic Church.

Kyle, the guy who flashes the universal white power symbol while drinking underage with a bunch of Proud Boys (no, it wasn’t a gay bar…I think), is the right’s champion of shooting people for protesting against racism.

Thanks to a corrupt judge and a corrupt system, Kyle gets to spend Thanksgiving with his racist mother. And I guarantee you this…

It’s also going to be a white Christmas.

Happy Hunting

CjonesRGB11232021

Trumpers, conservatives, gun humpers, and other assorted vile petulant creatures are all hailing the not-guilty verdict the Kenosha jury handed down on Kyle Rittenhouse. No, these fucknuts only want Kyle as a hero in their culture war. For them, it’s owning the libs. They don’t care about Kyle any more than they care whether or not Donald Trump wears an extra-absorbent man diaper or that during his colonoscopy, they found Amelia Earhart.

Kyle Rittenhouse is not innocent. He was found not guilty by a jury with very tight rules overseen by a racist Trumper judge who has Trump’s theme song as his ring tone. He was found not guilty after a trial where the judge wouldn’t allow the prosecution much of anything.

Mark Richards, one of Rittenhouse’s attorneys, told the press after the verdict that he wouldn’t have taken the job if it was to aid in a culture. Yet, the money he collected is from a defense fund filled with donations from MAGAts.

Kyle’s mom complained about President Biden insinuating her son is a white supremacist. Fortunately for her, the judge wouldn’t allow the prosecution to enter into evidence photos of underage Kyle hanging out in a bar with the proud boys wearing a “free as fuck” shirt and flashing the white power sign.

The jury got to hear about humanitarian Kyle who only wanted to clean graffiti with an AR-15.

The defense tells us he’s traumatized, can’t sleep, and suffers from PTSD. But, he didn’t look like he was suffering while flashing the white power sign with his white nationalist beer buddies. The photo was taken between the time of the shooting and the time of the trial.

Now in Wisconsin, you are free to kill people you disagree with if you believe it is self-defense. Wisconsin can be tough if you break their laws, except teens breaking curfew and illegally possessing guns.

Kyle’s lawyer said all his client wants now is anonymity, peace, and to be left alone. But, he’s also done an interview with Tucker Carlson and will be on his show again in a couple of days. His mom is still asking for money for his defense fund which has close to $500,000 in it at this time.

Let’s not forget how this began, over cops shooting a black man in the back. Conservatives are rejoicing that a little racist fuck got to kill and maim people protesting against cops killing black people. They got what they wanted. And it will happen again and again.

Kyle is not the victim here. You don’t create a situation you need self-defense from.

Welcome to America. No justice. No peace.

The Do-Nazi Run Run Run

Cjones04262021

In 2017 at the Unite The Right rally, neo-Nazis goose-stepped around with their tiki torches chanting, “Jews will not replace us” and, “Blood and soil.” Donald Trump claimed there were good people marching with Nazis making those chants. They were there to protect a Confederate statue the city voted to remove. They were met by anti-protesters, people opposed to racism and fascism. The tiki-torch Nazis responded by brawling with the antifascists. One Nazi intentionally drove his car into a crowd of anti-racist protesters. In doing so, the Nazi murdered Heather Heyer and injured 19 others. The Nazi driver was convicted of first-degree murder along with several other charges and is now serving a life prison sentence.

Soon, depending on which fucknut red state you’re in, that type of first-degree murder will be legal.

That’s right, kiddos. Republicans across the nation aren’t just content with taking away your voting rights…they want to make it legal for Nazis to kill you. Or at the very least, punish you for protesting by taking away your rights to receive public assistance, student loans, government jobs, and even the right to run for elective office. Seriously. They are trying to silence you.

What’s funny is, all those ammosexuals horny for guns who refer to themselves as “constitutionalists” are pretty quiet about this assault on the First Amendment. In case you’re a Republican, the First Amendment is also in the Constitution.

Florida’s idiot governor, Ron DeSantis, is calling their anti-free speech law the “strongest anti-looting, anti-rioting, pro-law-enforcement piece of legislation in the country.” Here’s the thing, kids. It’s already illegal to loot and riot. What they’re doing here is making it illegal to assemble which means they’re making it illegal to protest. They’re making it illegal to say what they don’t want to hear. DeSantis has also tied this to protecting Confederate statues and any protester who harms one can serve 15 years in prison. Who do you think he’s talking to with that? He’s talking to Nazis.

They’re saying this is a pro-law-enforcement act, but most of these guys can’t summon up the word “terrorists” when it comes to those MAGA fuckers who attacked our nation’s Capitol building and attacked cops. When racist fucks like DeSantis talk about the “riots” and “looting,” they mention Portland. What they don’t mention is Washington, D.C.

One of these bills is actually from a Republican in the Minnesota legislature. So, while Derek Chauvin is going to jail for murdering a black man, if this bill passes, you can can legally murder those protesting the murder of a black man. There are over 80 bills being sponsored to silence protests in 34 states.

In Oklahoma and Iowa, they’re making it legal to run over protesters in your car if you’re afraid for your life. That’s ridiculous because white Republicans are always afraid of black people. Just watch Tucker Carlson tonight. That guy is probably doing his show in a diaper because he’s scaring the shit out of himself.

In fact, this has already happened in Oklahoma. Last year in Tulsa, a driver in a pickup hauling a horse trailer drove through a crowd of Black Lives Matter protesters. He injured several and even paralyzed one for life. Guess what. He wasn’t charged because he was “scared” of all the black people. Seriously. If there was a horse in that trailer and someone would have paralyzed it, they would have been charged. In Oklahoma, horses have more rights than black people.

Also, being afraid of Black Lives Matter protesters is bullshit. Look at me. I’m not Chuck Norris and I don’t carry a gun or even a pointy stick, yet I felt perfectly safe walking with Black Lives Matter for over 60 blocks in Manhattan and mingling with them in Washington, D.C. The only people who scared me were the cops. Did that give me the right to murder scary cops? Nope.

Black Lives Matter protesters will chant with a lot of profanity, but they’re some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Claiming you’re afraid of them says a lot more about you.

They’re calling these hate bills “anti-riot” bills, but here’s a little juicy tidbit: Over 96 percent of Black Lives Matter protests last year were peaceful. What’s more, they found that most violence was instigated by white supremacists crashing the protests, and cops. Wanna hear another interesting juicy tidbit? Sure, you do. One hundred percent of white nationalists neo-Nazi protests where Donald Trump spoke resulted in violence, terrorist attacks, and loss of lives.

MAGA fuckers are a lot scarier than Black Lives Matter or Antifa. A MAGA crowd is more likely to have terrorists in their groups and people who support terrorists. A Black Lives Matter and Antifa crowd is more likely to consist of vegetarians and people who want to go to Starbucks later.

Concerning the white nationalists responsible for the majority of terrorists attack in this nation, you don’t see Republicans sponsoring legislation to silence them. Why, silencing racists and other assorted fucknut Nazis like Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, and the something-or-other percenters would be anti-Constitutional. Nazis have a right to assemble and protest. You don’t even see blue states trying to make that illegal. All the Proud Boys can protest all they want to “stop the steal” and for the right to kiss their sisters on the mouth, but it wouldn’t give you the right to run them over in a pickup hauling a horse trailer.

But just like with voting where Republicans only want white people to have a voice, they only want Nazis to have freedom of speech. If you believe black lives matter or you’re anti-fascism, they want to silence you. They want to make your voice illegal. At what point do they make my cartoons illegal?

I can’t speak for Black Lives Matter but I’m pretty sure these Nazi-coddling Republican motherfuckers will not silence them, and I assure you they won’t silence me either.

All the conservatives, like Tucker Carlson, who are upset a white cop has been convicted for murdering a black man now want to make it legal for Nazis to murder people protesting a white cop killing a black man. If Republicans had their way, the murder of Heather Heyer would have been legal.

Defund The Police

cjones06112020

This cartoon should ignite a lot of debate on social media over the next few days.

A lot of Black Lives Matter protesters are calling for defunding the nation’s police departments. There’s a lot of talk about what that means exactly and concerns Donald Trump and Republicans will milk it for the 2020 presidential campaign. Guess what. They’re already doing that.

It doesn’t really matter what the facts are for Donald Trump and Republicans to take something, fill it full of lies, and run with it. Remember how President Obama was going to take all our guns? Do you remember President Obama actually taking our guns? During the 2018 midterm elections, Trump and Republicans ran on the message the Democratic Party wanted to abolish ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). That did not work, the Democrats took the House, and we still have ICE. A lot of Republican voters probably thought Nancy Pelosi was coming to take their ice makers and we’d have to go back to trays.

Republicans and Trump gaslight and lie on a political issue? Remember, this is the same party that ran on saving Obamacare in 2018. Donald Trump also claimed George Soros was funding Central American caravans to “invade” our southern border and he even admitted he had no facts to base this claim.

Donald Trump stated yesterday that we’re not going to defund the police despite the fact he actually doesn’t have much of a say in it. Funding your local police department is mostly from your local government. But, the federal government can create laws restructuring and regulating police departments which is exactly what this nation needs.

While people argue most cops are good and the bads ones are just a few…the rotten apples have rotted police culture. While you can argue it was just a couple of cops who pushed the elderly man in Buffalo, there were multiple who walked past the man without offering any assistance. Then, it was an official statement from the department that the old man tripped and fell on his own despite there being video evidence contrary to that. Then, after two of the cops were punished, 52 of their colleagues resigned from their task force in protest of cops being held accountable. That is a culture that doesn’t need restructuring. It needs to be eliminated. Do we have to defund police to eliminate that rotten cop culture?

When the Minnesota State Police arrested a black CNN journalist who was only doing his job, reporting, they later issued an official statement saying they released him after verifying his credentials. The arrest was actually caught on tape with the reporter, Omar Jimenez showing the cops his…wait for it…credentials. The camera recording him and the microphone in his hand were also helpful clues, but hey, you never know when rioters will grab fake cameras and microphones to loot a Hardees. But the point is, at a moment when the public is protesting police, and the police need to rebuild trust, the entire department lied. Cops lie. They lie to cover their ass. They lie to cover each other’s asses. They lie to nail your ass.

It’s also extremely difficult to prosecute police not to mention how hard it is to get a cop to arrest a cop.  As it’s been noted and obvious to everyone except police and Republicans, the only way to get the ball rolling to prosecute a cop is to catch a cop breaking the law on tape. How many days did it take for the police to arrest and charge George Floyd’s killer? How many more days to charge his accomplices? The police record almost everything they do (they’re supposed to anyway), but we have yet to see the police’s tape from the George Floyd case.

So what does it mean to defund the police? Does it mean to cut their funding, restructure the department, or to actually eliminate the entire department?

In Minneapolis where George Floyd was killed, it means getting rid of the entire department. I’m not sure that’s a good idea.

The group MPD150, which says it is “working towards a police-free Minneapolis,” argues that defunding would be more about “strategically reallocating resources, funding, and responsibility away from police and toward community-based models of safety, support, and prevention.” So, who ya’ gonna call if someone breaks in? Ghostbusters? What if all the NRA gun nuts who took one shooting class start acting as vigilantes when they’re not marching about how much they need haircuts? You saw what happened when those two white right-wing racists in Georgia tried a citizens arrest on Ahmaud Arbery.

The main problem is the slogan, “Defund the police.” “Restructure the police department and reallocate resources to more proper agencies” just isn’t as catchy, even if liberals are more capable than Republicans with handling chants longer than three syllables.

Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Karen Bass, said she’s not in favor of eliminating police departments, but cities and states need to look at how they’re spending their resources and probably invest more in their communities. She said, “Maybe this is an opportunity to re-envision public safety.”

Right now, there is momentum to restructure the nation’s police forces. Everyone knows, even Republicans, that the nation’s police forces are corrupt. Yes, they are corrupt. When you have just one bad cop on a force and the entire department allows him to stay, you have a corrupt police force. If 19 good cops cover for one bad cop, you have 20 bad cops. In case you’re a Republican, 19 + 1 = 20.

In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city would move funding from the NYPD to youth initiatives and social services,  but he didn’t say how. In Los Angeles, Mayor Eric Garcetti vowed to cut as much as $150 million that was part of a planned increase in the police department’s budget.

Trump is using this to help portray himself as the “law and order” candidate, despite being the same guy who calls FBI agents “human scum,” attacks law enforcement agents who investigate suspected Russian spies, ruined the lives and careers of agents for his political ambitions and petty insecurities, and has literally broken the law by asking for foreign governments to help his reelection campaign. Yes, he did all that.

Plus, the guy promising us he’s the “law and order” candidate is a huge racist. Sheriff Buford T. Justice wouldn’t want to be aligned with this guy. Yes, the nation’s police unions, who create super PACs for Republicans, are totally in bed with Donald Trump, who told police they shouldn’t be “too nice” when arresting brown suspects. Donald Trump has literally encouraged police to engage in police brutality. How did the police in attendance react? They laughed and applauded. Again, cop culture is corrupt.

The LAPD union representative said, “Cutting the LAPD budget means longer responses to 911 emergency calls, officers calling for back-up won’t get it, and rape, murder, and assault investigations won’t occur or will take forever to initiate, let alone complete.” So basically, the cops will respond slower to the neighborhoods they don’t patrol anyway and suspects will be prosecuted almost as slowly as bad cops are prosecuted.

As we know from history, the Democratic Party’s biggest obstacle to winning a presidential election is the Democratic Party. The Democrats will defeat themselves before Donald Trump will. Right now, it looks like Joe Biden, who said he’s against defunding the police, is on his way to a historic landslide in the presidential election. And, the Democratic Party only has to defeat a stupid racist who lost over 40 million jobs, over 100,000 lives, and the nation’s respect and credibility on the international stage. So, yeah…Democrats should be terrified.

I know the socialist Democrats are passionate to the point they don’t really care about winning elections. You want change and you want it now, damn the politics of it. But you need the politics to get what you want. It’s like saying, “Fuck it, I’m voting third party” then not understanding why you don’t see any liberal change after getting Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

Should we defund the police? Yes, to a point. Should we eliminate police departments? No, but we should tear them apart and rebuild. But before we can do any of that, we have to get rid of Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell. What I don’t understand is why that is so hard for the Bernie Bros to understand. It’s like a four-syllable chant to Republicans…or math. They can’t do it.

Before we can restructure the Po-Po, we have to get rid of the orange Ho-Ho.

Did Mexico Pay For It?

Nope. Mexico did NOT pay for it.
Donald Trump ran on a racist xenophobic campaign of building a wall to keep people from south of the U.S. border from entering our country. The only wall he’s completed is one around the White House to protect him from Amerian citizens.
According to people who have done the measurements, there is over two miles of fence and concrete traffic stops surrounding the White House. Right now, there aren’t just Secret Service members protecting the White House and the president (sic). There are members of America’s military on the grounds…and Donald Trump wants more. Last Monday, he teargassed peaceful protesters so he could walk across the street for a photo-op.
Donald Trump teargassed protesters and the not-so-funny thing is, nobody knows for sure who ordered the gassing of American citizens. Kayleigh McEneny claimed the order came from Attorney General William Barr. Now, Barr says he didn’t place that order. If that’s true, then McEneny, who claimed during her first press briefing she’d never lie to us, owes us two apologies for lying to us. First, she said the crowd wasn’t teargassed despite it being caught live on national television. Second, she may have lied about Barr ordering that teargassing she claims never happened.
But then again, Donald Trump never hid in his bunker. He was only “inspecting” it.
Here’s a tip, White House. When you create a lie, make sure everyone’s on the same page and stick to it. You know, like building a wall, we’re already started building it, and Mexico is going to pay for it. You know, lies.
And by the way, when was the last time you heard anyone from the administration talk about Mexico paying for the wall? Just like that wall around the White House to protect scared little people who live in fear, we’re going to be stuck with the bill.
I wonder, does President Obama even know he had a bunker?

It’s Trippy

cjones06082020

Conservatives, Trump supporters, and even Trump himself keep pointing out how horrible protesters are. They’re so bad, we need to call in the military to every state to stop them from exercising their Constitutional rights.

If you listen to the goons, all protesters are Antifa coming to kill you, loot your store, and impregnate your daughters. They’re not all coming to kill you and loot your store. And nearly every time they point out someone as an example of a protester who’s really a criminal, their example is black. Golly gee willikens, I wonder why that is.

In fact, from conservatives, you only hear about the bad stuff. You hear about looting, riots, and people being hurt. You don’t hear about George Floyd or police brutality. You don’t hear about the message being sent. All they’re doing is trying to invalidate the Black Lives Movement. And the one thing you’re not hearing from the right-wingers are examples of police brutality.

One of my readers was a little upset with a recent cartoon and column of mine. She pointed out that it’s only a few bad apples among the police. What she doesn’t get is that those “bad apples” are the result of a bad system. They’re the result of a racist system.

When Donald Trump spoke to a group of police officers shortly after becoming president (sic) and told them “not to be so nice” and suggested they bash handcuffed suspects heads into cars while placing them in back seats, it wasn’t one or two cops giggling in the crowd. It wasn’t one or two who applauded and cheered. It was all of them. Plus, in case you missed it, the President (sic) of the United States endorsed police brutality. He also used the word “thugs” in his endorsement.

After the Minnesota State Police released a CNN reporter they arrested, it wasn’t one “bad apple” who said they released him “after” verifying his credentials. The lie was the official statement from the department.

On Monday while U.S. Park Police were clearing the crowd out from in front of the White House for Donald Trump’s photo-op, a cop slammed his shield into a cameraman from 7News U.S. As the cameraman and reporter, Amelia Brace, are fleeing, like the cops want them to do, one of the cops takes a swing and strikes Brace in the back with his baton. The Park Police’s initial response was, “As many of the protesters became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls. No tear gas was used by USPP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park.” I guess we can’t believe our lying eyes.

In Buffalo, the police shoved a 75-year-old man to the ground, cracking his head open and then walking away without checking on his condition. One policeman attempts to check on the man but another cop pulls him away. The police department’s excuse? The man tripped. That’s not one “bad apples” statement. Again, it’s from the entire department.

From police in New York City driving into a crowd of protesters to cops in Louisville shooting pepper-spray balls at journalists to cops beating unarmed and peaceful protesters, the police are out of control. Donald Trump is shouting about being the “law and order” president, but this isn’t law and order.

Police brutality is worse than riots. It’s worse than looting. Why? Because the police have sworn to protect us. They’ve sworn to protect protesters. Even when those protesters are protesting against the police. Don’t forget this entire thing started because of police killing an unarmed black man.

Republicans want to dehumanize and vilify George Floyd and protesters. Why do you think they want to vilify Black Lives Matter? Why do they want to label anyone fighting for equal rights as a villain? Think about that.

From what I can see, and saw in person, the ones without humanity are the ones wearing badges.

Who Dat Say What?

cjones06072020

Since New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees seems to be having a little trouble understanding things at the moment, let me put this in a way he can understand: What he said yesterday was more damaging, detrimental, and heartbreaking to the city of New Orleans and fans of the Saints than Bountygate.

If you don’t remember Bountygate, then you’re not a Saints fan. Between 2009 and 2011, during which the team won the Super Bowl, the Saints conducted a scheme where players were paid bonuses under the table, bounties, to knock specific opposing players out of games. Those targeted included quarterback Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers, Matt Hasselbeck of the Seattle Seahawks, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, and during the playoff run to their Super Bowl win, Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals, and Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings. Saints coach Sean Payton was suspended for a year and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was suspended for life which in the NFL, is at least two years. Other coaches and officials for the team were suspended as well. It cost the team several draft picks and possibly another Super Bowl.

Yeah, Drew. Your comments are possibly worse than all that. Bountygate hurt. What you said is a knife in the back.

Drew Brees is a hero to New Orleans. He didn’t just resurrect the Saints, one of the most historically inept franchises in NFL history, but an entire city.

It took the Saints 20 seasons before even making the playoffs. It took them 34 seaons to win a game in the playoffs. They were worst than the Browns. Fans would wear paper sacks over their heads to games with “Aint’s” written on them. “Who dat?” was the biggest joke in the NFL. Who dat saying they gonna beat them Saints? Everybody and everybody did. Tampa Fucking Bay won a Super Bowl before the Saints.

Then hurricane Katrina hit in 2005 and devastated the city. The team’s home field, the Super Dome, was used as a shelter for the poorest in the city, mostly African-American residents, who couldn’t flee the disaster. The Dome and the entire city were left devastated. It was so bad, many felt the city couldn’t rebuild. The team owner even contemplated giving up on the city and moving the team to San Antonio. Texas. My Saints in Texas? You son of a…

Then Drew arrived in free agency.

The team and the city rallied around Drew Brees. And Drew gave the love back. He was a big supporter and champion of the city, visiting children in hospitals, and raising millions of dollars for charities. And he led the Saints to their first, and so far, only Super Bowl. Drew could have been mayor of New Orleans, governor of Louisiana, and Senator, probably all at the same time. New Orleans and Louisiana LOVE Drew Brees. Drew helped the city rally around the Saints, whose success helped convince the city it could be rebuilt.

And then yesterday, he went and insulted not just every black fan of the Saints, but every black American in this nation. New Orleans is 60% black. Yesterday, Drew Brees blew them off.

Today, Drew apologized. He said, “In an attempt to talk about respect, unity, and solidarity centered around the American flag and the national anthem, I made comments that were insensitive and completely missed the mark on the issues we are facing right now as a country.”

Yeah, he totally missed the mark. Drew said he would “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag.”

The protests currently going on in over 100 cities in this nation over a cop murdering an unarmed black man has brought back what Colin Kaepernick protested against, for which he’s still blackballed today from the National Football League. For people like Drew Brees, he’s saying you can’t protest by marching in the streets and you can’t do it quietly by kneeling during the national anthem. Hey, white people…when can black people protest? Oh, never?

Never speaking out for what’s right has helped Drew become worth over $120 million. Kaepernick can’t get a tryout. Drew speaks from a privileged and comfy position of whiteness.

One of the reasons Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history is because he’s so smart. He’s one of the smartest guys in the league. And yet, his comments yesterday exhibit an unawareness, stupidity, and the sort of white privilege you would expect from…I hate to say it…a MAGAt. Ew!

Drew’s comments came from white privilege. It’s a white privilege not to understand and talk about what you don’t understand. Colin Kaepernick didn’t protest the flag or the national anthem. Are you paying attention? He protested against this nation’s long history and current state of systematic injustice to black Americans.

Lebron James said, “WOW MAN!! Is it still surprising at this point. Sure isn’t! You literally still don’t understand why Kap was kneeling on one knee??”

Richard Sherman of the 49ers said, “That uncomfortable conversation you are trying to avoid by injecting military into a conversation about brutality and equality is part of the problem.”

Retired player Julius Peppers said, “If you’re still talking about players “disrespecting the flag” by kneeling during the national anthem clearly you’re not ready for these conversations. Call a time out and come back later.”

Current free agent Damon Harrison Sr. said, “How can you be in the locker rooms, speaking to the players, know the reasoning, and yet still be dumb enough to believe it’s about the flag. Like HOW???? He should know better than that. He just doesn’t care. Damn man not Drew…”

Retired player Douglas Baldwin Jr said, “The reason my children have to live in a world that won’t empathize with their pain is because people like you are raising your children to perpetuate the cycle. Drew, you are the problem.”

Devin and Jason McCourty, twins who both play for the Patriots, said,  “To speak about your grandfathers as if there weren’t black men fighting next to them. Those men later returned to a country that hated them. Don’t avoid the issue and try to make it about a flag or the military. Fight like your grandfathers for what’s right!”

His own teammate, Michael Thomas, said, “He don’t know no better.”

When I walked with protesters earlier this week in New York City, I was thanked more than once by black protesters for being there with them. They thanked me for using my white privilege. That didn’t make me unique as it was very much a multi-racial crowd. The only people who made me fear for my safety were the police. Black Americans need white Americans to use their white privilege to help them, especially people with loud voices like Drew Brees. Ending this nation’s racism helps all of us. We can’t afford to sit on the sidelines because the system isn’t coming after us.

Well, maybe Drew Brees can afford to since his net worth is estimated at $120 million. I guess when you’re extremely rich, white, and male then you can afford to not get it.

I spent the majority of my childhood and teen years in Louisiana cheering for the Saints. Nobody was happier or more excited than I was over the Saints’ Super Bowl victory. I cheered, rooted for, and respected Drew Brees. I have always been thankful for him. Now, I’m just disgusted. Drew, you make me sick.

Danielle, a friend of mine posted on one of my Facebook comments yesterday and said, “I live in Louisiana… currently in Baton Rouge, but 28 years in New Orleans.
Saints season ticket holder for a while until I could no longer justify the cost, as a public school teacher.
I was there when they beat Atlanta to reopen the Dome following ‘she who shall not be named’. I was there when they unfurled the Super Bowl champions banner at the start of the 2010-11 season. I literally danced on a cop car in the French Quarter after they won the NFC championship, and a cop held his hand out to help me down.
Michael Thomas was being diplomatic…. Drew *does* know better; he just chooses to not BE better.

Fuck Drew Brees.”
