BlacKkKlansman

cjones08152018

If you make a statement and David Duke gives you a supportive shout-out, you might wanna go back and rethink your position. I don’t care if you say, “it looks like rain,” and Duke goes, “yeah.” You would wonder if there was a racist wolf whistle in “it looks like rain.”

Laura Ingraham used her podium on Fox News this week to say America doesn’t look like the country she knows anymore because of immigrants, illegal AND legal, and “changing demographics.”  David Duke loved her statements and in a now-deleted tweet, he said, “One of the most important (truthful) monologues in the history of MSM.”

Ingraham responded the next night to racists with, “You don’t represent my views and you are antithetical to the beliefs I hold dear.” Laura, you represent them and everything they believe. You have used your Fox News platform to push a racist agenda. You used the Republican National Committee to give a Nazi salute. When you heil Hitler, we know what beliefs you hold dear.

Her shpiel is just in time for the white nationalists who will be descending upon Charlottesville and Washington, D.C. tomorrow (Sunday) on the first anniversary of their Virginia rally that brought violence and killed Heather Heyer.

Donald Trump tweeted today that he “condemns all types of racism and acts of violence.” If that’s the case, he needs to go back and condemn half his tweets. He can start with his tweet on Friday giving a welcoming wolf whistle to the racist coming to D.C.

You’re not condemning racism when you say there were good people among Nazis chanting “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us.” You’re not condemning racism when you use it to create further division by using every race issue, from players kneeling in the NFL to calling black people stupid. You don’t condemn racism by questioning the birthplace of the first black American president.

The racist coming to Washington for their Unite The Right 2 rally represent Trump’s base. They’re small in numbers, pathetic, and dangerous. A lot of Washington restaurants have issued statements that they won’t be served. Hopefully, Mueller will be serving Trump very soon.

I saw BlacKkKlansman last night. I don’t know if the ending affected me so much because it was truly powerful, or because of the timing before the racists march this weekend (and in my state). If you believe in diversity and equality, you need to see it. If you’re one of those who hates it despite not having seen it, you need to see.

The movie is set in the late 1960s and what’s scary is it looks like today. Quite frankly, this hate needs to stop being served.

MAGA Corruption

cjones08142018

Have you seen a Trump rally on TV, or even worse, been to one? If so, you’ve witnessed the Trump sycophants chant “lock her up,” despite there being several people from the Trump campaign, administration, and assorted goons connected to him who will be the ones locked up soon. They like to chant “build the wall,” while not realizing that their goofy asses will be the ones paying for that wall. Now, they like to yell “space force,” despite not knowing what it is and not thinking how they’re going to pay for it when they haven’t even started paying for that racist wall yet. But, one of my favorites is “drain the swamp.” Drain the what now?

The swamp, man. The swamp. It’s a metaphor for all the corrupt Democrats who are profiting from their government positions and squirreling around protecting each other.

Like Hillary Clinton. She sold all of our uranium to Russia who took it out of our nation to use it against us in nuclear weapons (because Trump told us uranium is nukes) and then she took all the money to buy pantsuits. Oh, wait. That’s not even remotely true. She didn’t approve the sale, didn’t get any of the money, and Russia can’t take the uranium out of the United States. Darn.

But, Hillary did take money out of her charity, the Clinton Foundation to purchase gifts for herself, pay fines incurred by her businesses, and pay off corrupt politicians. What? That was Trump and his charity, the Trump Foundation?

Didn’t Hillary at least host charity events at her golf resorts and make huge profits from it? Wrong? That was Trump too, and Hillary doesn’t even own any golf courses? Does she at least play golf?

Didn’t she charge her campaign and the Democratic National Committee rent and make buckos off that? Trump again with his campaign and the RNC? Well pooh.

At least there’s that one Democrat in Congress, who was a wrestling coach, knew about another coach showering and touching young boys, and he kept his mouth shut about it. That’s pretty swampy. My bad. That was Republican Jim Jordan, who wants to be the next Speaker of the House, by the way, and who I do not want to see in a wrestling singlet (ew).

What about that Democrat caught on a microphone saying his party is the only thing standing between investigations and the president and will try to impeach the Deputy Attorney General? Yikes. That was Republican Devin Nunes and that happened just this week. Nope. Don’t wanna see him in a wrestling Speedo either.

Obama played a lot of golf, right? Well, every time he played it was at one of his resorts where he charged the government for his staff to stay, and he even charged the Secret Service golf cart fees to follow him around while he cheated at golf. What? Trump again? Obama doesn’t own resorts either?

What about Malia Obama? While her dad was president, her made-in-China products were excluded from tariffs and her personal wealth increased $81 million during her dad’s first year in office. That was Ivanka? Are you sure? Malia was still in high school, and she doesn’t even have a product brand? Man…

Well, how about Sasha Obama’s husband? His wealth increased too and foreign policy was shaped to punish nations depending on whether they loaned his family money or not. Come again? Sasha doesn’t have a husband and wasn’t even old enough to get married? Don’t tell me that was Jared. It was Jared.

What about Obama’s head of the EPA, who was taking charter flights everywhere, building up personal security, purchasing a soundproof booth, getting sweetheart deals by renting from lobbyists, and…That was Scott Pruitt, Trump’s appointee?

This one is new. Congressman Chris Collins served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over the pharmaceutical industry in which Collins was deeply invested. He was seen on the phone, while on the White House lawn for a picnic, telling his son to sell stock where he served on the board of directors and was the largest stockholder. Collins learned that a test for a potentially revolutionary multiple-sclerosis drug had failed, and his son saved $768,000 by selling the stock before the public could. That guy is a Demo….crap.  Another Republican. He was also the first Republican in Congress to endorse Trump? Well, this is starting to look kinda bad.

Ya know, if I didn’t know better, I’d start to think all those dorks at the Trump rallies are stupid hypocrites.

Maybe we should drain a Trump rally.

Troll

cjones08132018

Conservatives and other assorted nutzoids were up to their tinfoil hats in anger this week as Facebook, YouTube, Google and Spotify banned the InfoWars conspiracy freak, Alex Jones from their platforms.

Alex was banned for all sorts of violations, which included posting “fake news” and just being an all-around troll (every conspiracy in this cartoon was created by Alex except two. I created those and I’ll let you try to figure out which two).

Twitter issued a statement in the form of a tweet, from their CEO Jack Dorsey explaining why they are letting Alex Jones stick around. In one of Dorsey’s tweets, he wrote, “Accounts like Jones’ can often sensationalize issues and spread unsubstantiated rumors, so it’s critical journalists document, validate, and refute such information directly so people can form their own opinions. This is what serves the public conversation best..”

Sensationalize issues? Unsubstantiated rumors? Was it sensationalizing to say that Sandy Hook was a hoax and nobody was actually murdered? Is it merely an unsubstantiated rumor that the FBI plotted the Boston Marathon bombing?

What the New York Daily News puts on their front pages is sensationalizing. When CNN reports that anonymous White House sources are saying the president is afraid his son is in legal trouble for lying and engaging in a conspiracy with a foreign power, that’s a rumor with some substantiation. What Alex Jones does is neither. The professional term in the journalism industry for what Alex Jones does is “bullshit.”

Dorsey wants critical journalists to “document, validate, and refute such information directly so people can form their own opinions.” But what those people usually do is scream “fake news” when a conspiracy is debunked, and cling to whatever makes them feel squishy inside about their confirmation bias. Just mention the word “Snopes” to a conservative and watch them lose their minds.

With that said, for the most part, Alex Jones has all the freedom in this nation to spout horse crap (with assorted lawsuits here and there). At the same time, Facebook, YouTube, Google, and Spotify have the freedom to kick him to the curb. They are not government platforms. They are businesses.

Conservatives need to get their outrages in proper working order. You can’t be screaming about a business not allowing Alex Jones to post his “opinions” (opinions should be based on facts, but we’ll argue that another day), but demand that the NFL force all their athletes to stand for an anthem. You can’t demand that social media platforms give equal service to conspiracy nuts while also arguing that a baker has the right to refuse to make a gay wedding cake. But, I bet if the customer wanted a green tinfoil-wearing troll on that cake, you’d demand the baker to make it.

For people who like to call liberals “snowflakes,” conservatives sure are a bunch of snowflakes.

Alex Jones has made a lot of money on bullshit. He’s rich. He’s not going to let this assault on his ability to profit off crapola go without a conspiracy. He’s blaming the ban on “deep state actors.”

I keep waiting for conservatives to boycott Facebook like they always promise. But they don’t. If they did, they’d be sure to post on Facebook how they’re boycotting Facebook. You’d think they’d be content with 4Chan, 8Chan, InfoWars, Breitbart, the Daily Stormer, and all the other assorted hate sites. I found out just yesterday they’re all over Instagram because they let me know they didn’t like my Trump Hollywood Star cartoon one bit.

But, they need to post where liberals, moderates, and other rational types will see them. It’s like that old saying; If a tree falls in the woods and there’s no one around to hear a conservative call it a “libtard,” is that conservative still an unimaginative troll with an IQ lower than his sister’s shoe size? Probably.

Creative note, sorta: It is very unlikely that I’m related to Alex Jones. My dad’s story on who his father was constantly changed, so there’s a good chance I shouldn’t even be a Jones. Leave it to Alex Jones to destroy all the cool points I got from Indiana Jones.

A Star Is Scorned

cjones08122018

Donald Trump is a horrible person who nobody likes except racists and people OK with racists.

As a reminder that Donald Trump was a celebrity contributing nothing meaningful to society before he was a politician contributing nothing meaningful to society, he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A testament to the public’s animosity toward Trump has been expressed on his star (which he paid $30,000 to have installed, which probably came from the Trump Foundation). Some people kick and spit on it, dogs have been allowed to relieve themselves on it, stickers have been placed on it, someone built a tiny wall around it, and it’s been spray painted, once with a Swastika (though to be fair, that may have been a supporter). Most recently, a man, described by a witness as “going to town on it,” destroyed it with a pickax. That individual has been charged, released on a $20,000 bail, and faces up to three years in prison. With charges like that you’d think he was a member of the Trump Campaign.

The city of West Hollywood decided that having a star for Trump was a bad idea and voted unanimously in a non-binding resolution to have it removed. It’s non-binding because they don’t have jurisdiction over the star. That belongs to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber released a statement that they have no plans to remove Trump’s star and that once a star is added it’s considered a part of the “historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” I suggest some people walk their dogs by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and show them how they feel about this.

Mark Hamill has a great idea. He suggests replacing the president with a princess. Princess Leia that is, as Carrie Fisher doesn’t have a star on the Walk of Fame. What? How can this be? This can’t be allowed to continue. She should have had a star light years ago, and having hers replace Trump’s would be galactic justice.

As her friend and writer Paul Slansky said, she would have loved being the face of The Resistance.

Wonderful Son

cjones08112018

The Donald Trump presidential campaign did not have any contacts with anyone from the Russian government. OK, they did but it wasn’t anything significant. Except, it was in Trump Tower which was the campaign headquarters for the Trump campaign. Oh, and the meeting was attended by Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and then-campaign manager Paul Manafort. But, it was a total waste of everyone’s time as it was about Russian adoptions. Though, the Russian was promising dirt on Hillary Clinton and Jr. replied in an email before the meeting “I love it.” But, here’s a statement that definitely wasn’t written by the president that the meeting was only about adoptions. OK, the statement was written by the president, but he didn’t know anything about the meeting and it was still only about adoptions. OK, it wasn’t about adoptions and was totally to gain dirt on Clinton, which they didn’t get. Now, it wasn’t illegal and everybody does it.

Did I miss anything? Probably. At this point, even Nixon would be confused with the explanations.

Donald Trump is reportedly very concerned that his “wonderful” son, Donald Trump Jr., may be in legal peril over that Russian meeting in Trump Tower. He should be concerned. Jr. most likely broke the law, he can’t keep his mouth shut, neither can his old man, and they’re both idiots. They should be very concerned.

They argue that collusion isn’t a crime. That depends on a lot of factors. What is a crime is engaging in a conspiracy with a foreign power to benefit your American election. Even if it’s not illegal, it’s treasonous. You don’t even have to get anything out of it to break the law. You just have to try. It’s like arguing that you failed to kill someone, so it’s only attempted murder. No big deal. Everyone does it.

You wonder how concerned Trump is for his son since his latest tweet about the meeting suggests his son committed perjury before Congress.

Trump tweeted, “Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!”

He’s so concerned for his son that he threw him under the bus while making it clear that he himself had no involvement or knowledge about the meeting. Thanks, Dad!

The thing is, it’s not done all the time in politics. Yes, campaigns get dirt on political opponents. Was the Clinton campaign colluding with Russia by paying a former British agent to investigate Trump? No. They did not work or seek help from a foreign government. The Trump campaign did. Trump and his sycophants don’t understand the difference. But, maybe they’ll have a lot of time to think about it.

Here’s the other thing; Trump lied about the meeting. Trump Jr. lied about the meeting. Trump tried to cover it up. Since they’re on the record lying about it multiple times in the past, how can we believe anything they’re saying to explain it now? Why should we believe Trump didn’t know about it? Why should we believe they didn’t get any information from Russia? Why should we believe there weren’t more contacts.

I have a not-so-bold prediction. This long national nightmare of Watergate with stupid people won’t end without someone named Trump receiving a presidential pardon. A much bolder prediction would be; who and how many?

Running Low On Blood Money

cjones08102018

The NRA is claiming they’ve lost tens of millions of dollars due to financial sanctions inflicted upon it by the state of New York.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has placed sanctions on the NRA for their Carry Guard insurance program, which covers legal costs stemming from self-defense shootings. New York says the program is illegal and the Department of Financial Services has also pushed firms not to do business with the NRA. They’re also urging other states to take similar measures against the gun advocacy group.

There’s a lot of skepticism of the NRA’s claim. The organization keeps its finances private as well as their number of members. This could be another fundraising stunt since they’re accusing Cuomo’s actions of being a political vendetta. Perhaps Russian spies have stopped financing the organization.

Instead of financially supporting the NRA in their hour of need, I suggest offers of thoughts and prayers.

Creative notes: This is a bonus cartoon because I might want to take another day off this weekend. It’s also why you’re getting a really short blog.

LeBron Meets LeCon

cjones08092018

If you donate to LeBron James’ charity, The LeBron James Family Foundation, you will help educate a child and provide university scholarships. If you donate to the Trump Foundation, you will help Donald Trump purchase a portrait of himself, or maybe some sports memorabilia, or perhaps pay off fines for his businesses and pay off politicians.

James just donated $50 million to build a school for at-risk students. While being interviewed by CNN’s Don Lemon, he mentioned how Trump was using sports to divide instead of unite. Trump’s reaction was to question the intelligence of James and Lemon. In case you never watch CNN or follow sports, both men are black. Donald Trump has a tendency to question the intelligence of black people.

Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un are very nice guys, but Colin Kaepernick is a “son of a bitch.” Trump’s rhetoric toward the quarterback has helped keep him out of his sport as he’s been blackballed by the entire National Football League.

Trump has also attacked NBA star, Stephen Curry. He has questioned the intelligence of Representative Maxine Waters and questioned if Obama was smart enough to get into Columbia University and Harvard Law.

Questioning the intelligence of black people is straight out of the white supremacists’ playbook. Trump, who refused to denounce David Duke’s endorsement until pressured, praised Nazis, and called nations with brown people “shit-hole countries,” knows the playbook well. Now, he’s rewriting it.

While insulting James, Trump threw out praise to Michael Jordan with an “I like Mike.” That puts Jordan in very exclusive company as the only other black people Trump likes are Don King, Kanye, and that “blacks for Trump” guy he flies in to stand behind him at every rally. Jordan, who has never been very vocal about politics, issued a statement supporting James’ charitable endeavors.

A smarter person, especially one campaigning in Ohio, would keep quiet about LeBron James, especially if that person’s own history with charity and education was horrid.

While James is a role model and sending kids to school, Trump University was not a university. The faux university was ordered to drop “University” from its name and New York’s Attorney General accused Trump of misleading more than 5,000 people to pay up to $35,000. After winning the presidency and before taking office, Trump settled three lawsuits over the university for $25 million.

The Trump Foundation was a charity that Trump stopped donating to after 2008. Instead, he solicited money from other people and would then use that money in non-charitable fashions. Like, buying himself expensive gifts, paying off business fines, and donating to political campaigns. Trump is so cheap; he even used it to pay the $7.00 Boy Scout Dues for one of his kids. The charity was also used in coordination with his presidential campaign. New York is suing the foundation along with Trump, and his three eldest children, Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka. Referrals have also been made to the Federal Election Commission and the IRS.

Bad things happen to bad people. Donald Trump is a bad person. He’s a man who steals from charity and attacks others who give. And, if he can go about doing that while scoring whitey points with white supremacists, then all the better.

I like Mike. I also like LeBron. In fact, whether I root for them or not on the court (or field), I like anyone who helps at-risk children.

I do not like greedy, bloviating, Cheeto-encrusted racist bastards who con an entire nation.
