Run, Josh, Run

There’s no shame in running for your life from an angry racist mob. If you’re in the path of a mob of white nationalists with nooses easily led by the bullshit of shitweasels, you better run. The day after the attack on the Capitol by Trump’s goons trying to overturn an election he lost, we saw video footage of Senator Mitt Romney running. We saw footage of Mike Pence scrambling for his life. We saw footage of House members laying down between seats in their chamber in case the angry mob broke in. When the mob broke into the Senate chamber, there wasn’t one senator hanging about to greet them. None of the people we saw in that footage are cowards. Running and hiding is what you do when an angry mob comes to kill you. Get the fuck out of there.

But….now we have video footage of a coward running for his life from the angry mob.

The most important information from last night’s live hearing of the January 6 Committee investigating Donald Trump’s insurrection was not the footage of Missouri Senator Josh Hawley running for his life, but it was the most amusing. In fact, the audience at the hearing laughed.

That sounds kinda cruel, doesn’t it? Laughing, giggling, and taking joy in watching someone scramble for their life? Maybe, but I laughed my ass off while watching it. In fact, I retweeted videos of it to the tune of “Staying Alive” and the theme to “Chariots of Fire.” Josh Hawley running for his life on his gangly legs was hilarious. He should be mocked and ridiculed. I mean, that guy was taking about seven feet between each step. I’m mostly shocked we didn’t see him pushing old ladies and children out of his way,  à la George Costanza.

The reason it’s funny to watch Josh run for his life and not the others is that Josh Hawley is a treasonous lying piece of shit. No, he doesn’t deserve to be trampled by an angry mob, but he does deserve to be ridiculed after instigating that mob.

Hell, Josh didn’t just instigate the mob with lies before the riot, he instigated them in person while he watched them bumrush the Capitol Police outside the Capitol building. He gave them a power fist while behind the security of the police, the very people the mob was attacking. Then, he relied on the Capitol Police to protect him when the mob broke into the building. We have footage of him running for his life. He was booking it. Beep-Beep! There goes Josh Hawley.

But, why didn’t Senator Hawley hang around the Capitol? Why did he need to run? I mean, if these were the good guys breaking in just as a form of protest for election integrity, why didn’t he stay to greet them?

He could have waited in the Senate chamber and greeted them with, “Hello, racist mob. It’s a pleasure to greet you here today in the Senate chamber, even you, howling shirtless guy with the horns on your head. I am enjoying your protest and with your help, we’ll make sure the rightful winner of this election is confirmed. My, I am impressed with the way you’re urinating and defecating in the hallways. Aah, it smells like freedom. And what a catchy chant you have there. Hang who now? Yes, I do have a horse face. Thank you for noticing. Has anyone seen Ted?”

You wonder how Josh Hawley will recover from this national embarrassment. He can always ask Ted Cruz how he copes and carries on without any signs of shame or humility after being caught time and time again as a lying spineless sanctimonious weasely coward. Ah, yes…just ignore it. Fortunately for Josh, his people may not even be aware of it since Fox News didn’t show the hearing last night. They probably aired a special of Tucker giggling for an hour at Biden catching COVID.

Even after he ran for his life and hid out behind the protection of the people he encouraged the mob to attack, he returned to the Capitol after the coast was clear and continued to lie about the election. He continued to oppose and obstruct his constitutional duty.

Here’s a tip: When you goad an angry mob to attack, don’t run like Chicken Little during the assault.

Also, has the DNA of the urine and feces left in the Capitol on January 6 been checked? Maybe it wasn’t left by the angry mob and it was merely from by Josh Hawley, shitting and pissing himself while running for his life. Just a thought.

However, we do have to thank Senator Hawley for one thing. He has given us a talking point. In the future, when you hear some racist unpatriotic fucknut shitweasel MAGA goon argue that the insurrection was just a protest, you can ask them this: If it was just a protest, then why was Josh Hawley running like a little bitch?

Update on cartoon: This cartoon took off and went kinda viral. It has over 1,200 shares on Facebook alone, not counting all the people who saved the cartoon and created their own shares of it. It was The Week’s cartoon of the day on Facebook. It was the top cartoon in Mike Peterson’s Comic Strip of the Day. It made today’s Washington Post. It was even featured on Joy Reid’s show on MSNBC where she created a “wall of memes,” even though political are NOT memes. I can’t begin to guess how many comments it got on social media.

And to think that I woke up yesterday without an idea, and when I finally got this one and started working on it, I didn’t know if I’d even finish drawing it.

A Capitol Cop Triumph

Finally, the reign of terror for the instigator of the invasion of the Capitol complex is over as an arrest has been made. The Capitol Police found him trespassing in the hallways of a congressional office building and they didn’t even require backup from the Washington, D.C. Dog Pound. Boys and girls, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog has been arrested.

After decades of mean, personal, insults, like “your dog looks like the result of an Ewok gangbang” and “your mom’s like soccer…always taking balls to the face,” and telling people that something they admire is great for him to poop on, justice has been served.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was arrested by the same cops who didn’t find anything suspicious about a bunch of Trump goons touring inside the Capitol, taking pictures of tunnels and stairwells, the day before the January 6 Trump insurrection. I for one feel a lot safer knowing I can go outside and won’t be accosted by an insulting dog puppet.

Triumph started his career on Late Night when Conan O’Brien was the host. Now he’s doing gigs with Stephen Colbert’s Late Show. Last Thursday, a film crew for Late Show was in one of the Capitol office buildings filming a comedy skit involving Triumph when Capitol cops moved in and arrested nine individuals, including Robert Smigel, Triumph’s creator.

The film crew had permission to be there but apparently stayed after the building was closed. Incredibly, nobody was harmed, peed, or humped on, during the incident. But, there is still outrage.

Tucker Carlson is upset. Tucker has accused Adam Schiff of being behind the “insurrection” by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Tucker said the incident was “exactly like what happened” during the Capitol riot. Seriously.

The incursions into the Capitol Complex are NOT “exactly” alike. First off, unlike the Trump insurrectionists, Triumph is housebroken. On January 6, the goons for Trump defecated and urinated on the floors and walls of the Capitol.

Also, what happened on January 6 was a bunch of white nationalist terrorists trying to overturn an election they lost. They were directed by Donald Trump and seven people were killed. Over one hundred Capitol Police were wounded. What happened last Thursday was a puppet of a dog telling rude jokes.

Come to think of it, every white nationalist Trumper who invaded the Capitol is ripe to be insulted by Triumph…and for him to poop on. The Insurrectionists might even like that.

I think it’s unfair for Tucker to accuse Triumph of being a terrorist without giving the dog equal time to defend himself. Tucker should invite Triumph on his show. I think Tucker and his show would be great for Triumph…

…for him to poop on. I kid. I kid. Not really.

Racist Putz With Putter

One of my proofreaders asked if someone actually said the F-word with the N-word about one of the Capitol Police officers victimized in the insurrection by the Trump terrorists. She did not watch the January 6th Hearing this past Tuesday.

Yes. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn testified before the committee that during the attack, one of the rioters told him they had a right to be in the Capitol because Donald Trump invited them, and that “nobody voted for Joe Biden.” Officer Dunn told the terrorist, who was wearing a pink MAGA shirt, that he voted for Joe Biden. He asked her, “Does my vote not count? Am I nobody?” She replied with, “You hear that, guys, this n***** voted for Joe Biden!”

First off, they claim nobody voted for Joe Biden and it was all election fraud, but when they’re confronted with someone who says he voted for Joe Biden, they want to kill him. For Trump supporters, voting for Joe Biden is a crime while committing an insurrection to destroy our democracy is not.

Dunn testified after the woman called him the N-word, that about 20 members of the crowd started booing and calling him a “fucking N*****.”

CNN ran the entire hearing uncensored. Later, they ran back audio of the segment uncensored. I saw the clip again on CNN and MSNBC where it was censored, but just the F-word. They still let the N-word fly. I find that puzzling because as you see here, I’m way less terrified of the F-word than I am of the N-word. I will drop “fucks” in here all day but I don’t want to quote someone, even in their own context, using the N-word. Fuck that N-word.

I don’t like the N-word and I’m not comfortable with it. An anchor on Newsmax said he refused to believe Dunn’s testimony without audio. Yeah, it’s incredulous that Trump supporters which consists of Nazis, Klansmen, Proud Boys, Oathkeepers and other various white nationalists, would ever say something racist. Why would racists want to support a guy who defends Nazis and calls out Proud Boys? Sheesh.

Of course, if he had personally heard a Trump supporter saying the N-word at a black cop, he would have found a way to claim it wasn’t racist, like the numerous times they had to defend Donald Trump’s racist remarks.

Other conservatives went after the testimony from Dunn and his fellow officers, calling them “crisis actors.” They went after them for whining about being gang-rushed by white nationalist terrorists. Tucker Carlson called Officer Dunn a “left-wing activist.”

That’s how conservative media presents people who are anti-racism and anti-terrorism. Why, they must be “left-wing activists.” The irony here is that they defend the terrorists as “activists” and “tourists” yet, claim being an activist is a bad thing if it’s from the left.

Every single person who defends the mob is a defender and supporter of racists and terrorists. I’m tired of having to say this, but the people who attacked the Capitol were terrorists. If you’re a Trump supporter, they’re your terrorists. Republicans have even made terrorist Ashli Babbit a martyr for being killed while trying to overturn an election and destroy democracy.

If conservatives really want audio to prove how horrible they are, in case footage of January 6 isn’t enough, they can listen to the voicemail left for officer Michael Fanone while he was testifying. In the voicemail, a racist homophobic (listen to it) Trump supporter says, “I wish they would’ve killed all you scumbags.”

Fanone sustained a traumatic brain injury, a heart attack and a concussion during the attack, and has since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. Republicans on Twitter called him a “pussy” for this. Keep in mind, Donald Trump hid in a basement when peaceful black protesters were outside the White House.

Officer Dunn was asked if this is America. He said, “Frankly, I guess it is America. It shouldn’t be. But I guess that’s the way things are.” Trump supporters are racist. That’s the way things are.

Dunn said he and the other officers testifying “represent the good side of America, human decency. We appeal to the good in people.”

Republicans appeal to the worst of us. Donald Trump built his political career appealing to hate. His entire tenure in the White House was a shout-out to racists. He spent four years, and continues to do so, playing to white grievances. This has been the strategy of Republicans since they enacted the Southern Strategy for Barry Goldwaters’ presidential campaign in 1964…and they haven’t looked back since.

Republicans are attacking the people trying to defend the nation from terrorists. Republicans are defending the racist terrorists. If the Oklahoma City bombing happened today, Fox News would be telling you Timothy McVeigh was a tourist who lost the keys to his rental van. Despite the van being full of fertilizer explosives, they’d say he wasn’t “armed” because he didn’t have a gun. Fox News and Timothy McVeigh had that in common…they’re both full of shit.

The real crisis actors are the ones pretending Trump supporters would never say anything racist.

Republicans Heart Terrorists

Republicans do not want to investigate the January 6 terrorist attack on the Capitol. Why? Because it’ll anger Donald Trump. They serve Trump, not you, silly Billy.

The attack was by white nationalists. That’s the GOP base. They tried to overturn an election. If this crowd was black or antifa, the GOP would be all about a commission to investigate the attack.

House Minority Leader once said the quiet part out loud about a commission. It was into the investigation of Benghazi that Republicans held for several years, spending millions of dollars. There were ten investigations into Benghazi, six by the Republican-led House. Kevin McCarthy explicitly stated they were held only to hurt Hillary Clinton and he boasted they had lowered her approval ratings. Other than that, the investigations didn’t uncover anything. Now, they’re afraid a commission into the January 6 attack will hurt Republicans in the upcoming midterms. They’re also afraid it’ll piss off Trump and he won’t help them campaign or raise money.

McCarthy had several demands for there to be a commission. He demanded that Republicans have as many appointments as Democrats to the commission. He demanded that Republicans have subpoena power. He demanded that the investigation be over by the end of 2021.

In opposing a commission, McCarthy said, “For months, the Speaker of the House refused to negotiate in good faith on basic parameters that would govern a commission to examine the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.” Except, each of his demands were met. He got exactly what he demanded and still opposed the investigation.

Senate Minority Leader Moscow Mitch McFucknuts also opposes it and said we shouldn’t keep “litigating” the past. This was five months ago. Meanwhile, Republicans in Arizona are litigating the past by recounting ballots seven months after the election.

The House passed a bill to create the commission. It needs ten Republicans to join Democrats for it pass in the Senate. Thursday, Gladys Sicknick, the mother of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, along with the slain officer’s girlfriend, met with Republican senators to try to convince them to vote for the commission.

Thirteen Republican senators refused to attend the meeting out of cowardice.

Gladys Sicknick issued a statement saying, “My son, Capitol Police Officer, Brian Sicknick, died on January 7, 2021. He died because of the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol Building on January 6.”

“He and his fellow officers fought for hours and hours against those animals who were trying to take over the Capitol Building and our Democracy, as we know it. While they were fighting, congressmen and senators were locking themselves inside their offices. According to some who were barricaded in their offices said it looked like tourists walking through the Capitol. Really?”

Republican congressmen and senators also lock themselves in their offices out of fear of having to meet the mother of a cop killed by MAGA terrorists.

Ms. Sicknick only received three commitments out of the 50 Republicans in the Senate. She has Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins. As to the rest, she asked, “How can they not be doing the right thing?”

Sicknick said, “Not having a January 6 Commission to look into exactly what occurred is a slap in the faces of all the officers who did their jobs that day.” Reportedly, many of the officers of the Capitol Police Department feel as though Republicans regard them as their servants.

McConnell claims a commission, evenly split between Democratic and Republican appointees, will be “openly partisan.” What’s non-partisan is that some Republicans will vote for it with Democrats…and what’s partisan is that only Republicans will be voting against it. Who would have guessed years ago that supporting terrorists would be a partisan thing for Republicans to do.

The Homeland Security Committee was created from the 9/11 commission’s recommendations. It was created to protect this nation from terrorists. Now, that committee is being ignored so Republicans can protect terrorists.

Gladys Sicknick may have asked the question rhetorically, but I’m not.

How can they not be doing the right thing?

Fresh Terrorists

We don’t just need police reform in this nation. We need justice reform.

Last weekend, Saturday Night Live did a skit of a morning news show where the white hosts were certain Derek Chauvin would be convicted while the black hosts were like, “eh…we’re not so sure.” I’ll be honest, I will not be shocked if Chauvin walks. Sure, his defense has been ridiculous, but have you met white America? The jury is mostly white and they only need to convince one juror there’s doubt of Chauvin’s guilt…not even that he is innocent. They only need one juror to refuse to convict. Let me remind you, they’re in white Minnesota.

Last June, the National Guard used tear gas to clear protesters away from the White House for no reason other than a photo-op for Donald Trump. The attack from the government came before curfew in broad daylight. The protesters were peaceful. Later, additional fences and barriers were placed around the White House. The protesters were protesting against police violence on black Americans.

Before the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, the Capitol Police were told not to use their most aggressive tactics or weapons against the expected “protesters.” Those protesters were terrorists. They were white terrorists. Now, do you honestly believe they would have been told to hold back if they were expecting black protesters? After the white terrorists broke into the Capitol, one was killed by the Capitol Police. If they were black, how many do you think would have died?

MAGAts are still defending the terrorists and they want the cop prosecuted who shot her. Do you think they’d be making the same demands if the terrorist was black and a part of “antifa?”

Daunte Wright was killed by police in Minnesota last Sunday. They police say it was an “accidental” shooting because the cop, a 26-year veteran, mistakenly used her Glock pistol instead of her taser. Police later said they pulled him over for an expired tag, but moments before they killed him, Wright called his mother and said he had been pulled over because his rearview air freshener was obstructing his view. How often do white people get pulled over for air fresheners?

Do you believe Army Lt. Caron Nazario would have been assaulted by police in Virginia if he was white? Do you think they would have approached his vehicle with guns drawn if he was white? Do you think they would have at least apologized by now if he was white? The chief of the Windsor Police Department says the department doesn’t owe Nazario an apology and even though they’ve fired one of the cops, wishes Nazario “would have complied a whole lot earlier.” Somehow, it’s still the black guy’s fault for being pulled over and pepper sprayed despite not breaking any laws. In Windsor, they haven’t fired enough cops yet.

The National Guard tear gassed a black crowd in Washington, D.C. The Capitol Police were told not to be aggressive with a white crowd. The Chauvin defense has witnesses saying he wasn’t aggressive enough while killing George Floyd. The Windsor Police will not apologize for how aggressive they were to Lt. Nazario.

The best evidence we need police reform is America’s police. No more racist cops. No more system of systemic racism.

Multitasking

After Donald Trump sent right-wing racist terrorists to attack the United States Capitol, killing one police officer, with two committing suicide days after, and over 100 injured from the Capitol Police force, with one losing an eye and another losing several fingers, conservatives were baffled that liberals were upset over an attack on police. I mean, aren’t liberals against cops?

No. Liberals are not against cops and we are not against having police. Sure, there’s a fringe element that wants to do away with all police and the slogan “defund the police” is a major distraction, but most liberals want police. The thing is, we want honest cops. We want a system that treats everyone equally. We want a system that doesn’t single out unarmed black Americans for punishment and unfair treatment. We don’t want cops killing unarmed black people over stuff like selling loose cigarettes, passing a counterfeit $20, or driving while black. We don’t want cops busting into the wrong house and killing the black occupants. We don’t want cops killing a man because they thought his cell phone was a gun. We don’t want cops killing a child for playing with a toy gun. It’s insane to think that people who don’t support racist cops are against cops.

Think of it like pizza. Just because I don’t want pineapple on my pizza doesn’t mean I’m against all pizza. Yes, I just equated pineapple pizza to racist cops. They both fuck up good things.

What’s insane is one day supporting racist cops and the next day, supporting the white nationalist MAGA terrorists who kills cops. But unlike conservatives, I am not baffled by this hypocrisy because I know it’s not really cops conservatives love. They love the racism. They love the Trump cult.

If Donald Trump sent Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and other assorted racist MAGA terrorist goons to kill Jesus on Easter, Trump supporters would defend that. In the racist MAGA goons defense, he was a zombie.

Republicans are clinging to a racist system that’s denying black Americans the right to vote and supporting two separate justice systems, one for blacks and the other for whites.

You can be upset over the killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Tamir Rice while also being upset over the killings of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick and Officer Billy Evans.

Officer Sicknick was killed by Trump terrorists during their insurrection at the Capitol. Officer Evans was killed Friday by a man driving his car into Capitol Police at the Capitol, and then sprang from his car wielding a knife.

Trump supporters are simple-minded beasts. For them, everything is as simplistic as black and white (no pun intended). Fox News and Donald Trump only have to point toward the direction for the cult to go, and they go with no questions being asked.

We on the left understand life and humans are a bit more complex. You can hate pineapple on pizza while not hating pineapple. You can hate a racist like Papa John selling his racist pineapple pizza while not hating pizza. Life is complex.

Don’t be afraid to speak out for and against cops. Don’t be afraid to speak up against a racist system in our nation’s police forces. If you’re not a Trump supporter, you can multitask.

Creative note: I have a friend named Brian Evans, so I had to be very careful that I didn’t let my mind get sloppy and label one of the stones with his name. Also, big shout-out to my copy editor Hilary today who Googled and proofed each of these names while standing in line to get vaccinated at Gillette Stadium. My proof ladies really do rock.

On another creative note, I originally had “multitask” lettered in one line, but it really looked weird to me because “tit” is in the word. Look at it. “Multitask.” Maybe it was just my eyes, but it was glaring out to me. So, I moved it into two lines as an excuse to hyphenate it. Now that’s an obscure creative note. If I was going to sneak “tit” into a cartoon, I’d do it with something like “titmouse.” I’m like Homer Simpson and I can’t hear that word without giggling.

Republicans and conservatives love to shoot down the fact that African-Americans are often profiled by the police. They’re oblivious to the fact that every black child has to be given “the talk” on how not to be killed by the police.

A Harvard study was recently published saying encounters between police and African-Americans “rarely goes bad,” and then it goes on to say “yeah, it’s kinda bad.” The study only uses a few police forces as examples, doesn’t investigate why the encounter happened, and only uses data provided by the police.

Conservatives also point out that more white people are shot by police than blacks while ignoring the difference in population. Facts shmacts!

Many conservatives, even Donald Trump, admit there is a problem…somewhat….probably. Then they continue to degrade Black Lives Matter by saying “all lives matter.” That’s like not supporting breast cancer awareness because all cancer matters. When you go to a doctor for a broken arm you don’t want to hear him say “all bones matter.” You want him to focus on the bone that’s broken. Something is broken and we need to fix it.

Yes, all lives do matter. Blue lives matter. But when you say “all lives matter,” you’re ignoring the fact that for the majority of the time this country existed, black lives did not matter. When I hear people today mock protests for equal justice and treatment, I think how good it is to know where they would have stood during the Civil Rights Era.

Now one of the GOP’s own is talking about his experiences being hassled by the police. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only black senator currently serving (Editted: I forgot Cory Booker. How could I forget Cory?), said he’s been pulled over by the police seven times in a year. He was often pulled over because he was driving a nice car.

He’s even been hassled by the Capitol Police. Those are the guys who protect the U.S. Capitol.

One Capitol cop profiling Senator Scott noticed his Senate Pin and said “I know the pin but I don’t know you.” He thought the senator was an impostor.

I’m thinking it probably didn’t help convince the cop that the senator was indeed a senator when he told him that he’s a Republican.
