Really good article written by my friend Mike Peterson at Comic Strip Of The Day. It’s not just good because he used my cartoon, it’s really well written. I wish I could put into words what he does what with the smart and the words and the point he makes and again with the smart….see?
Example: “I have seen some chatter on the Intertubes about how, since the victim suffered, it’s okay that the convict suffered, which is a pretty stark reminder of why we have laws in the first place. A lot of those other nations that still kill people as punishment also have a problem with ongoing, ever-escalating vendettas and other forms of crowd-sourced justice.”
Mike mentions how many papers will refuse to run a lot of the cartoons he shared because the papers are pro death penalty. I half agree with him. I think a lot of papers will refuse to run these cartoons out of fear of controversy. I don’t think papers are so much liberal or conservative nowadays. Most papers are safe. Most papers present a view of theirs, whether it’s liberal or conservative, then they try to fill the rest of their page with opposing views to balance it out. That’s safe. It doesn’t work so much because conservative readers still write in saying the page is too liberal even if conservative content outweighs liberal content. But I’m glad papers try to balance it out. I have several conservative clients that run my work to balance their page.
Anyway, Mike has a really good site I try to check out every day. I like to give him a little promotion. Go check it out, even when he’s not using my cartoons.
