A Political Action Committee for Governor Terry McAuliffe was selling face to to the governor and First Lady. The Guv claims he never knew about it and the effort has been cancelled. Yeah, good. It’s just bad policy to sell access especially after all the heat the former governor got into.
What the PAC tried to do for McAuliffe isn’t illegal but it is sketchy. Every governor is going to raise money but they have to watch how they do it.
It’s especially bad in light of the McDonnell scandal though it’s not the same. Selling face time is one thing. Having a supporter give you loans, pay for a daughter’s wedding, give you a Rolex and letting you sport around town in his Ferrari is a lot worse than having some sit-down time sold.
