I’ve noticed over the years that conservatives just don’t “get” irony.
The Virginia General Assembly is obsessed with restricting abortion rights. In 2012 they voted that everyone who seeks an abortion must get an ultrasound first. Why? Just to make it more inconvenient to get an abortion. Like getting an abortion is a pleasurable procedure to begin with. The entire state was mocked nationally for the law, as if we were Texas or Kansas. It even garnered former governor Bob McDonnell the nickname “Governor Ultrasound.” Nice.
Last week a Democrat in the State Senate introduced a bill to repeal the ultrasound law. It passed but one conservative Democrat said they voted wrong, so they voted again. It passed again but ANOTHER conservative Democrat said they too had voted wrong. I guess that “yay or nay” thing can be very confusing when you’re dragging knuckles. The confused Democrat demanded another opportunity to change his vote, or to vote again. I guess he made a mistake and wanted to correct it. See? Irony. Well they didn’t vote again.
The bill is doomed to failure in the troglodyte House.
Here’s the rough.
