Do you know why conservatives are always exhorting everyone to stop blaming Bush? Because just about every problem this country is still dealing with was created by the Bush administration.
They attack Obama for the slowest economic recovery in the history of the United States, ignoring the fact that the reason we need an economic recovery in the first place is because Bush put us here.
They scream about debt. They ignore the fact that Bush put us in debt by financing two wars with tax cuts. From 1980 to 2008 Republican never complained about government spending because during that time Republicans were doing all the spending and one Democratic president was getting us out of debt.
They complain about the government spying on us, but sat on their hands while the U.S. Constitution was gutted, violated or ignored by Bush and Cheney and they rammed the Patriot Act down our throats and accused anyone who disagreed of siding with terrorists.
Have we forgotten what Bush did to New Orleans? He’s the only president to surrender a major American city to mold and reptiles.
Now they complain about the mess in Iraq and Afghanistan which takes a lot of gall. Most Americans were in favor of going into Iraq despite any reasons for us to do so. They shouted down anyone who questioned it. Even the “liberal” media dropped the ball on questions before the war in fear of looking unpatriotic.
The Bush administration lied before going to Iraq. They claimed there were weapons of mass destruction. They insinuated very heavily that Saddam had ties to al Qaida. They said we’d be greeted as liberators and it would be an easy job. Most conservatives ate it up and repeated the lies. Even a lot of liberals lined up in the war parade.
After thousands of deaths, American and Iraqi, and billions of dollars and no-bid contracts to Bush and Cheney’s buddies we have pulled out of Iraq. Obama made good on a promise. That’s a hard fact for many to deal with.
Yes, terrorists have taken Fallujah. Before we invaded Iraq there weren’t any terrorists in Iraq. There’s still a mess there the United States created all while George W. Bush is sitting in a bathtub trying to decide how to paint his toes.
Stop blaming Bush? We haven’t blamed him enough.
