Who do you go with when you have a two-year pro who’s immature and has very little experience versus a two-time Super Bowl winning coach with decades of experience? You go with the immature kid.
You have more invested in the kid. You traded away a slew of draft picks and built your entire organization around him. It may be too soon to fire that coach but you’re not as heavily invested in the coach. Fans aren’t wearing Shanahan jerseys.
I won’t argue for the job Kyle Shanahan has done as offensive coordinator. You have to suspect nepotism got him his job, not his play calling ability. But Mike Shanahan is a good coach. He was a good investment at the time. If you let him go you’re going to have to put in a new system and build it around RGIII. On top of all that, you’re telling Griffin that he’s in charge…until he’s worn his welcome out. He’ll get a good idea when that time comes.
Sorry to pick on Black Friday again. I didn’t think this cartoon was running until Sunday and then my editor said he’d put it on Friday’s page. I was cool with that. I should have blogged this hours ago.
Hey I drew a rough.
